Awesome local Fish and Chip shop. The fish is always very fresh.  The batter is light and fluffy. Scoops of chips are generous and are always well cooked in regularly changed oil.  The service is always awesome and you get great value for money.  They have a good variety of different fish and if you look in their fridge you will find a selection of individual precooked meals. Not fish and chips  By far my pick for Fish and Chips in Bassendean.  Parking: Plenty of street parking right in front of shop.

My first choice of fish and chips on Sunday night. Good value of the premium seafood basket, although sometimes the chips might be a bit soggy, but overall still a good shop to visit.Food: 4/5

Delicious fish, perfectly cooked, great batter. Miscommunication on the phone resulting in less fish being served likely my own fault for blundering the phone order, but I was offered the missing fish freely and without issue I should have at least paid for it. Good service and nice people.

First time at the old trout. Ordered grilled fish, battered fish, dim sim, crab sticks, prawns and potato scallops.  Pre ordered and was told would be ready in 10 minutes. After a 40 minute wait got home to find battered fish was missing. Rang and was given the option of going back or keeping a note for next time. Wish I called AFTER we tried the food. Grilled fish was fantastic, everything else was not cooked through. Having said that $46 worth of uncooked food made our chooks happy. The Old Trout can keep the battered fish owed. Unfortunately would not recommend.

I just had fish n chips, barramundi,and dim sum and fish bites,it was horrible,the worst Ive had in my life,the fish was so tough,and basically all batter,and so was the other food,it got thrown in the bin,and I won't be going back.whoever is the cook tonight honestly needs the boot
