The Old Treasury Building is a fascinating stop if you’re into Melbourne’s history. The displays give a great look into the city’s past, including gold rush days and old currency. It’s not too big, so easy to explore, but packed with interesting stories and artifacts.
This is the perfect stop for anyone interested in history and politics and historical facts and how this this great nation was founded including the nugget from the gold rush kind and friendly and very knowledgeable staff thanks for sharing your knowledge I real enjoyed learning about history and also the awesome architecture aka the pillars outside
Probably the best place to visit to learn about Melbourne history. Exhibition is naturally flowing through the building and keeps engaged even during re-visiting. Friendly and knowledgeable staff
Very friendly staff to introduce the museum when we first entered. A lot of information for the Melbourne history. Worthy to see!
Must visit if you're interested about the history of Melbourne. Nicely depicts the timeline from the foundation of Melbourne, growth during the gold rush era, replica of the largest gold nugget 'welcome stranger', lively example of a typical household during the time, various important historical events and stages to the evolution into the great city of today. Basement and part of ground floor is the museum. Easily accessible by tram. Visit is free and you can easily spend a couple of hours.
