The Octopus Hideaway offers an extensive range of gear for snorkelling. You can be covered from head to toes, to guarantee your safety - and ever worry about not having your size. Our wetsuits are designed by our self and are made from durable 5 mm neoprene.

We hired equipment from here and was recommended flippers because of the weather but when we got to the water was told by the doc ranger that the weather actually meant there was Zero visibility and that we shouldn’t have even bothered with the snorkelling equipment (even the glass bottom boats weren’t running). We went straight back to ask to return and refund our $50 as we couldn’t use it and he gave us half back which I think is a bit of a scam as he knew when hiring them to use it was worthless. Will not recommend.

The staff was very helpful and informed us about the weather conditions before renting out the gear so that we can make informed decision so snorkeling on the day or postponing it as the visibility may be low. 
We appreciated his honesty and customer oriented approach ! Thumbs up!

I've visited The Octopus on many occasions and Kwinten is a top bloke. Always forthcoming about the conditions and with good recommendations about where to swim to get the best experience.

He also has the best wet suits. They're thicker than Goat Island Dive's down the road, even though the rental price is less. Highly recommended!

Make sure you check conditions before hiring. They told us it was fine, we got down there and the DOC ranger was telling people it was not good to go out. No one in the water. Took the gear back 30mins later and he refunded half. They should be advising customers beforehand if it isn’t any good to enter the water
