Since having the privilege to attend a tour before the hospital was officially opened to public, then having attended some conferences there for work, I’ve also experienced visiting patients, being an emergency patient then as an outpatient for appointments I have to have it is a lovely functional new hospital, much preferable to the old RAH building, airy and bright makes the sick feel better with greenery views definitely helps the mental state. Unfortunately as a patients point of view, there is definitely room for improvements. It’s corridors to find rooms for appointments are confusing and thank goodness for volunteers and helpful staff who can assist with directions. Understaffed in many areas leave the system vulnerable. Getting there- Public transport is a better option if well enough to get there by train as Car parking is horrible and expensive if you have no choice but to drive yourself there.
Parking is very expensive. Nice and clean and friendly people, good food options and lots of nice outside areas to sit. But confusing layout and direction signs. The phone text system telling you what room to report to is not great.
My mother was brought into Emergency due to a fall. From the Ambulance to the hospital it’s been fantastic. The service at the hospital has been outstanding. My mother has been placed in a room by herself public patient. The staff, nurses, doctors, cleaners are the food is great. all top notch outstanding workmanship. All know there jobs and my mother I must say is in the best hands possible. Thank you so much to everyone for looking after my mother 100 per cent. The hospital is the best in South Australia.
Though emergency department is always understaffed and relatively slow in service , once you get admitted , the service is 5 star ... We got admitted several times and we have really zero comments. Staff, doctors & nurses are all super professional, caring and helpful. The hospital itself is very clean and properly equipped. You are in safe hands here.
Waited 5 hours for pain killers, admitted, then told by surgeon he didn't know what to do. His 'team' were more interested in my occupation as they realised my medical knowledge was that of a doctor. Makes no difference to me, every occupation is important! Nurses would agree regarding something I needed and then go home! No communication, no interest, no cleaning. I cleaned and changed fresh sheets while they watched. No, they were not busy as I heard them complain that there was a second person coming into the ward overnight. This was level 5F. Well done people, you couldn't do any less than you did! WE PAY these government departments! I suggest private cover! There is no decent hospital in Adelaide unfortunately!
I can not thank all the staff at ED enough through my experience! I didn’t take my symptoms too seriously but GP insisted me to present at ED with a referral letter. The triage nurse read the referral and asked me few questions, the next thing I knew was being taken in. Straightaway, I heard the nurse calling code stroke, then I had three medical staff in front of me within 30 seconds started assessing, taking blood, etc! The rest of the care during check up was also awesome, even though the medical staff were all under the pump! Thank you for all your care!
First of all I would like to thank the paramedics that initially treated me on the way to hospital who gave me medication instantly to minimize my symptoms. The nurses and doctors were attentive kind and caring. Keep up the good work.
Still waiting after 5 hours. There are more security guards than nurses. The nurses are glued to screens and cannot tell you when your emergency person will be seen. No care whatsoever. It is just horrible. Have we become 3rd world in Adelaide?
I would like to thank all the staff at the RAH for there positive attitude and wonderful care. My journey began two weeks ago in the breast care dept Today I was admitted for day surgery, 'nuclear tracing'? And then a couple of hours in recovery. What a happy group of people, from the orderlies to the anaesthetist and all between. Heroes!!!
Had to take a family member to the emergency department and firstly I have to say the Royal Adelaide Hospital is a world class hospital. I know this would depend per patient however the doctors very quickly had a idea on what the issue was and what kind of treatment plan is required also the doctors and nurses were very friendly and answered any questions that we had about the diagnosis and treatment. Also the room had TV and Wi-Fi at no additional cost which was very nice
