We had such a great time at The Meat & Wine celebrating my partner’s birthday. The food was delicious, the service outstanding, and the atmosphere amazing. There was even a lovely birthday card on our table, and we were given a complimentary dessert with ‘Happy Birthday’ written on it. It was such a fabulous night — a wonderful experience we’ll always remember.
A fulfilling experience at Meat & Wine Co but not perfect. Garlic bread is your fancier version and worth a try and the scallops are refreshing and flavoursome. Steak is certainly a little steep on the price for what you get. Chips are standard but do the job. They give you enough sauce garlic is mediocre in my opinion. For dessert we had sticky date and crème brûlée both pretty good but not exceptional. Staff are friendly enough but we seemed to get multiple people coming to our table. Would be nice to have only one person which would make it a bit more personalised and special.
My husband & I had been given a Redballoon voucher for our Anniversary by our son & daughter-in-law. We booked through Redballoon per the instructions, & the booking was confirmed by the venue almost immediately. We then added a third person to our booking independent of Redballoon. It was a simple process.nOur booking was for Wednesday night, @ 7pm.nOn arrival we were asked to confirm our voucher number, & were then seated @ our table. We were handed a set menu, which turned out to be a share plate option. Our guest had the full option menu choice.nService was courteous & prompt. The menu was explained to us. Everything on ours would be served 'to share'. Our guest had the full range of choice.nWe had Garlic bread rolls with green butter & calamari for entree, a shashlik, salad & sauce, as well as steak, chips, & mushroom sauce, for mains. All were perfectly cooked. The calamari was extremely tender.nDessert was a warm pudding with sauce & crumble.nOur guest ordered pork belly bites for entree, beef ribs & salad as mains & pavlova with berries, drizzled with basil oil for dessert.nAlthough bookings are for a period of two hours, it didn't feel at all rushed.nThe venue was busy on the night, but not crowded.nCash payment for our guest was accepted as an option, which is our preferred method of payment.nThe venue caters for children, & people with mobility issues would comfortably negotiate the downstairs dining area.nThere is no designated parking for the venue, but both free & meter parking are available on the street. Being a Wednesday, & after 7pm, we parked in Riversdale road for free. A short two minute walk from the venue.nWe plan on returning & would recommend this venue for either lunch or dinner.
The entrees here are great, we thoroughly enjoyed the steak tartare and the pork belly.nnBut the actual steaks weren't great, for a place that's main focus is steak it was a bit of disappointment. I know it's not as expensive as some other steak places, but the steak seemed to have covered in a thin layer of a sweet sauce which was masking the actual flavour of the steak.nnThe mushroom sauce wasn't that good either. I'd probably come back just for the entrees to be honest and not the steak.
Have a great and scrumptious dinner with friends and family with delicious tender ribs and steaks. Appetizer platter was flavourful - calamari was really tender, sausage is kicking with spice, beef is tender and the bruschetta is delish.nnPotatoes side and the Mac and cheese was beautifully done and creamy delicious.nnThere is service charge per head for the BYO cake but the service is wholesome with cake cutting and ice cream serves in each plate along with the cake.nnGreat birthday celebration and any other special occasions with your close ones
