Had yet another amazing experience with the Lockdoctor today! about time I write a review. They are always very good and fast. I have used these guys for years and they have always catered to my personal lock needs as well as my business. We recently took on an unexpected project with strict time constraints,giving the Lockdoctor team hardly any warning or heads up. Long story short they made my life a whole lot easier! I have regularly used the Lockdoctor in Porirua for about 8 years and have been on friendly terms with the owner (Bruce). Whilst one of the staff is regularly unfriendly, socially inept, and I question his expertise/knowledge I have recently had two of the most appalling experiences with staff, resulting in a lengthy written complaint and today an oral complaint, neither of which have been taken particularly seriously. The last experience was so outrageous and appalling that if I could take legal/police action I would. I have never seen or heard of such disgusting and uncalled for behaviour. At 8.30 am when my sister was asking about a lock issue that she and I had been trying to resolve with the lockdoctor for several weeks. The guy (Richard) was rude and sneering on the phone. My sister asked to speak to the person (Neil) we had been dealing with. Richard put the phone down and said "their is this stupid f&*%ing b*&% on the phone. She's a F&**ing idiot. etc etc etc with a lot more F*&%s in the mix" My sister heard Neil say "is that Tania's sister?" and all went quiet. (I am a local lawyer in the same community as the Lockdoctor and have already complained in writing two or so months ago about an equally rude employee (Kim) who in addition to being vile I suspect was not going to declare the cash payment made during a night callout. No receipt was given and the cash went straight into his pocket. He used my friend's key ring torch (another local lawyer) to do the job and I had to reattach the door handle on the house door with the screwdriver from my car). My sister and her husband drove out from Wellington city and demanded an apology from Richard who said "what for?". Finally he apologised disingenuously and when challenged said "what do you want me to say". I phoned the business owner who did not seem to be as outraged or shocked by his staff's behaviour. I have supported this business for years but not any more. There seem to be no consequences for such appalling and abusive behaviour. Plus they cannot cut keys properly as it turns out. Long story short, my sister went to Armstrong in Johnsonville (on the recommendation of a local car dealer who as an aside mentioned that the lockdoctors are not highly thought of). Turns out that the lockdoctor incorrectly cut the keys. This was after 3 attempts over several days, a charge of $300 for 2 keys and then today advised that we needed new barrels in the car doors. (even though they had never looked at them). Armstrong fixed the problem within a few minutes all for $30. Even more impressively they did not pass any comment about lockdoctor after hearing of our experiences. I'd recommend Mr Minit in the mall above these guys. Like the car dealer in Porirua says, drive passed the lockdoctor and go to Armstrong. Note: lockdoctor in Wellington and Auckland is owned by the same guy.

Great service with a smile. Murray took the time to repair/weld my 1930's lock and fixed it. Much less hassle than having to replace it with a modern one. Fiddly work but much appreciated. Have used this company on numerous occasions and they are my "go to".
