The Leanchef Kitchn is now open on Thomas Dr! An exciting new cafe offering delicious organic food, coffee & wine. B fast, lunch (and soon dinner!)

Story

Robert Marchetti and Enzo Loterzo, born both in 1973, met when they were 16 year old apprentice chefs, working in an award winning Melbourne Italian restaurant. Both coming from immigrant Italian families, they instantly hit it off, becoming lifelong buddies.

"Enzo and I played, we cooked, and then we cooked some more. Long 18-hour days - on our feet the whole time - 6 days a week ... and then we'd play and cook some more. "Sleep when we are dead" I said. Geez we were brats." Robert.

"Oh yeah, Robert and I only went home to my Mum and Dad's house when we were hungry, or needed a nap ... and then we'd cook and play some more. Yep, we were brats." Enzo

Enzo suggested they both start going to the gym. Robert reluctantly agreed. Enzo instantly headed over to the weights section, and Robert to the treadmill. The idea of eating whatever the hell they wanted ... and burn it off at the gym was genius!

That’s how it started.

After 25 years of cooking, travelling, dinners, events, parties - they have lived it ... travelled to it ... and cooked it! But everything started to change ... bodies change; digestion changes and you simply get older. Their bodies and minds were no longer 17 years old.

So it was time for a 'review'.

Using good, fresh whole foods, and living a lifestyle free of crap - they are better for it. Better minds, better bodies, better people ... and they simply just feel better.

A little education makes all the difference. They already knew how to cook, but really didn’t understand food.

"What does white processed flour do to my gut? It's just Pasta, right?"
Nope - your body sees processed carbs.
"What does my gut see with juiced pineapple, honey and granola breakfast? That's healthy, isn't it?"
Nope - your body gets overloaded with natural sugars.

So they learned pretty fast what they should and shouldn't eat. This power of information and education became simply that ... POWER.

The next step was to put this knowledge to work in their restaurants and lifestyle - and to make the food taste great and have loads of flavour.

They were constantly being asked by buddies at the gym, in training, surfing, swimming, hiking and work colleagues ...

"How the hell do you both stay so fit and healthy when you travel heaps, eat heaps, and cook heaps?"

Desperate for 'the secret diet' ... their answer has always been the same.

"We know how to make shit taste better, dude. The secret is knowledge."

And so began 2 Lean Chefs.

So what exactly is 2 Lean Chefs? Well ... it's ...

Cooking tips and how to make your damn food taste better.
Training regimes.
Lifestyle choices both physical and mental.
Reviews of new food trends and what they really are.
Awesome basic, healthy recipes.
How to burn fat quick and lose weight to start your new life.
How the hell to navigate a menu when eating out.
How to travel and not get stuck with eating the wrong shit.

"It's not a diet ... it's a lifestyle."
Enzo, Robert

Nice healthy choices but also allows you to build your own mess if you like. The fritters with hazelnuts was delicious, probably needed a relish. Coffee was good, I dare you to have a hash brown. It was crunchy on the outside and a nice mash on the inside. Service was a little rude at first from manager but he recovered well when he thought about it.
Highly recommend especially if you have allergy needs. I'm dairy free and soy free for my breastfeeding daughter and they were so happy to check ingredients and adapt the recipe to cater for me. I had a delicious fish sandwich. It was fantastic and service was without fault. Thank you thank you thank you for being patient and catering to us allergy folk. It's so hard to find somewhere that will
Such a great spot and service was so lovely! The chef Ben was extremely lovely and his cooking was amazing! We had the chicken burger and sweet potato fries and the fritters. With some perfect coffees! The menu is very accommodating with the ability to have breakfast or lunch from 11am and great vege and allergy options! Vegetarian options: Grey variety Parking: Great amount of free parking in the street behind. Dietary restrictions: Great options
Girls catch up lunch today. Great venue on Chevron Island looking out to Thomas Drive. Ordered the Super food salad with chicken and eggplant fries. Was my second time ordering this as my first visit after Covid last year was a wonderful experience. Service was friendly and owner very welcoming. The salad was good however not as good as previously. Provided feedback to the owner on my experiences who was very grateful and appreciative. The eggplant fries are incredible sounds weird but honestly- delicious and their fresh juices are perfect for a refreshing healthy drink.
Great friendly table service with a creative breakfast menu. Heaps of seating inside and outside and although the price is a little on the expensive side it was matched with quality from the kitchen. There’s a bit of street parking around so you should be fine.
Another cool and welcoming café on the Gold Coast. I enjoyed a great coffee and eggs / avocado on sourdough. The staff was very friendly. Chill music playing in the background not too loudly. Highly recommended
Great little cafe. My Shan Shan hangover burger was exceptional. Great place to sit and watch people and the world go by.Food: 5/5
$62 for 3 coffees and 2 basic egg, bacon and toast breakfasts. Seems expensive. My food was good though and staff, especially chef was very friendly. A friend ordered an egg & bacon on a bun, which was not great.
I'm putting two stars rather than one because this place was awesome about 18 months ago and the issues lie with the new chefchef?, not the front of house staff which all do a good job and seem friendly as. Lady in the front makes a great coffee. But this is the THE most confusing cafe you could go to. Sitting at your table with a bottle of water and a full glass of it? The staff will offer you water. Sitting at your table with no water? The staff will not offer it to you. ‍‍‍ Order fresh spinach and baked tomato? You'll receive wilted spinach and fresh tomato. Want to actually eat the dry muesli on the breakvast board why serve food on a board barely big enough? Well you won't have any yoghurt or milk so crunch away. In fact that whole meal is really devoid of moisture in general. I think the inside of the hash is the wettest thing on the cutting board that your food keeps falling off. Why did you guys stop doing overnight muesli? It was sweet, moist and enjoyable. Why the hell would you serve a cup of dry muesli by itself? Why is the grilled chicken unseasoned and dry as? Why can't your kitchen dude poach an egg? The inside was hard like it had been boiled. Why was my toast soggy when there was nothing on it The only time I've ever enjoyed meals at Lean Chef in when Enzo is cooking.
Excellent burger and gnocchi breakfast we had here. Table service was friendly and efficient. Meal sizes were good value for the location. Quite a decent menu as well with an excellent looking breakfast menu. Highly recommend the chicken burger.
