A historic & long beautiful history of lighthouse service from 1881 to 1976 for mariners. The are no light house keepers after the last one left in 1976. Friendly & dedicated Volunteers man the open days of sat & sunday for local & visiting visitors. Pictorial history @ all levels of light house. Enjoy sea breeze & waves

Hard to offer an opinion on something that was closed to public.  Am finding many places,  due to lack of staff,  open in driving through NZ. Good idea to phone to check if/ when open. We were there on a Monday and the museum is only open weekends. Good views though and you are at the western point of the North Island. Great campsite next door at only $10 night and of course has the amazing coastal views

Worth a look museum not always open we  were lucky and able to have a look

Well worth a visit when opened. Have given a lot of history of the area. Views are wonderful and also a lovely spot to visit. Watching the people out on their Sips, otherwise very quiet.

Amazing place with so many desplays. I love it how you can walk all the way to the top and see out

It was lovely down there, very peaceful and the lighthouse is very cool!!
