I wonderful place to spent some time. There is a cafe on site, with decent coffee and cabinet food. There are heaps to see, so make sure you have time. A great selection of historic farm vehicles and tools and some army vehicles, but the models are the best. Each scene so detailed, it's definately a must see.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
I haven't visited here for 12 years. We took our grandson, aged 14. He loved it. It was so different, and interesting. One day isn't long enough to take it all in. The story of Taranaki. So well done. The dioramas had so much detail. It is Taranaki's best kept secret. It stands up well against anything in Europe. The rain was no problem, as virtually everything is indoors!
What a great must do. One of the best. Many exhibits, boy garage stuff and also some things for the ladies. Do the boat ride , we'll worth it. The young lad we had in the boy was very good. He has a nice story to why he is there. Thank you
Recounts the history of the area from the arrival of the Europeans to the automobile via scaled dioramas, life size models, bush train and boat. Definitely a must place to visit and you need to allow at least 5-6 hours to see everything. Photos limited as most areas have copyright art.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Awesome museum showcasing different periods of early New Zealand history. Get tickets for both the Museum and Traders & Whalers, and spend a good 3-4 hours seeing everything.
Beautiful place to learn about history. Thoroughly enjoyed the train ride and the boat ride. The ending in the Cafe was a treatVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
What an awesome museum....something for everyone here...the life sized model as so realistic and the detail in the diaramas superb. Spent 2.5 hours there but didnt get to see everything.... would like to go back when we are up that way another time
I cannot recommend this place enough, not only the displays but also the staff will bring you so much joy and wonder, thank each of you.
Fantastic Museum, different as it shows history with amazing miniature dioramas as well as nany like size displays. Also has a expansive collection of tractors and other farm equipment. Gift shop and cafe on site. So much to see, we spent over 3hrs there. Thoroughly enjoyed it. A must see when travelling around this area.
An absolutely awesome experience, the talent and attention to detail blew our minds. Allow a whole day to take it all in, and you'd still find something you missed if you went back again. Traders and Whalers ride amazing. Very cool. Big ups to your young grandson doing the tunnel tour in Traders and Whalers, he delivered the information so well and was so friendly!
