The Fitz Cafe is a great place on Brunswick St for a casual catchup or bite. The rooftop was unfortunately closed during my visit short staffed so we sat outside in the shade. Staff were great and food service after ordering was really prompt. Buttermilk Chicken and Steak sandwich were both delicious. They are using QR ordering and are unfortunately requiring both mobile and email just use dummy details which is something they should rethink.
Attention to owner/management, the price of golden latter on the menu and your system don't match, I was charged $6 when menu said $5.. I wonder how many of the items were the same case and customers charged more than what they're informed of without checking? If the prices have increased its understandable but please update your MENU accordingly. I'd take this is an honest mistake, otherwise it's disgraceful. Side note: customers beware when paying by card will incur surcharge , I wasn't informed either. Other than that I had a good turmeric drink , something different. The atmosphere of the Cafe was warm with the fireplace. And the staff was friendly but food was slow. My friend ordered Classic BLT and it took a good 30 mins to come
We were looking for a cafe open after 4pm For a hot chocolate on a cold day and we found it. Staff were super friendly and the hot chocolate was tasty. We also enjoyed the vegan banana bread and the sandwich.
had the pulled pork, it’s well presented, but taste a little but bland. Try some of my partner’s chicken burger with the chips, chips taste fine but the chicken are tasted weird, like it’s been deep fried with the calamari or some other thing. It’s pretty crunchy. Coffee taste pretty good, thanks for the nice sweet barista. And this cafe were pretty cute and relaxing.
Bland cafe that fills up because of it’s location. Calamari salad was strangely sweet but otherwise flavourless & screaming for some citrus. If you are looking for a place to eat around here you can walk in any direction & do so much better
Was around the corner and hunting for a good Cafe brekkie. These guys did not disappoint! So good, i didn't even need to use my hollandaise sauce.. cooked beautifully. Kids brekkie of $10 was huge. Good coffee!!
I've been a customer for many years. The Fitz never fails to deliver on food, service and atmosphere. Although it was a hot day, we sat outside under the large and shady plane tree. Water and glasses were promptly placed on our table. The waitress wiped the table, provided menus and left us to ruminate upon what to order. I had the 'greens with a poached egg'. My friend had calamari which she declared was delicious. Wine by the glass is reasonably priced. Over the 20 years or so that I have been a patron, I've never had a meal that I haven't enjoyed. Prices have risen but not exorbitantly. We both ate and drank for under $60. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: Greens with an egg is a new addition to menu. Stir fried broccoli, asparagus, beans and kale with garlic and ginger. Egg on top was an extra $2 or $3. Very good. Parking: Surrounding streets have a lot of 'residents only' places. It's like hen's teeth trying to find a free parking spot. Paid meter parking is expensive but often only option. I think it was $4.00 an hour in January 2023.
Amazing breakfasts and at a reasonable price. Great place to just have a quick brekkie.
Came here for a nice meal, was initially a bit shocked by the staffs attitude, I don’t mind little small talk when it’s busy, but being the only group of people upstairs, and having 2 staff up here with us, snarky attitudes don’t fly. We ordered at the bar, and waited 1 hour for the food to come, they didn’t come to check on us once, and when they delivered the food, they were super unpleasant and sounded like they didn’t want anything to do with us. The food itself, was disappointing to say the least, dry, lacking flavour and overall not very tasty. I am not sure if this is an unusually bad experience, but I can safely say there is no reason That I would want to come back here. With so many other places to eat in Fitzroy, the Fitz really needs to up their game.
My friend and I both loved our bowls of the Vegan Bodas. We came away feeling very well fed, satisfied, and nourished by so many delicious vegetables. My first time at the Fitz - very impressive meal. I'll definitely be back!
