I don’t like to be negative to a business that I am sure is run and staffed by lovely honest people but I had both the worst hamburger and the the most expensive hamburger in my life.nn$28 for a tiny burger on a dry stale bun at a pub at lunchtimennMy mate had the Club Sandwich which was very nice looking. But if you can’t do a decent burger for $28
We dined at 2:00pm on a Tuesday. There were plenty of tables available inside and outside and we were seated immediately.nnInside was a breathtaking recreation of an Irish pub - dark panelling, media from significant moments in Irish history on screens, many places to sit with different feelings and a broad range of Irish food and drink staples. The list of whiskeys was incredible.nnI had the beef Guinness stew and it was perfect. My beautiful wife had salmon on toast and the bacon and cabbage croquettes. The food arrived very quickly and it was hot, fresh and tasty. We spent a good deal of time stealing each others’ food. nnI had a blindingly cold Guinness pint and it was marvellous.nnThe staff were very friendly and efficient. The price was bang on what we expected.nnWe’ll be back for beer and whiskey paddles.
Great Irish bar and restaurant with lots of Irish memorabilia and shows playing on the tvs. The service was quick and friendly. Not much in the way of parking, aside from street parking if you get lucky. Lots to choose from on the menu. The chips were delicious and the steak sandwich was good. Chicken Parma was also received well by other guests. I would definitely book ahead to ensure you have a table reserved.
Asked for aioli for my chips and they brought out the eftpos machine to charge me $2… after drinking 10 pints and having a meal here.nHow’s the audacity??? Spare me. Never coming againnnTo top it off… their patio area have put in fake rust on their roof for aesthetics… tacky
Let’s first talk about the new whisky bar and its fit-out. The interiors are absolutely gorgeous, making you feel as though you’re in a chic space in New York, Dublin, or London. I wouldn't have come to the old section solo, but I'll happily spend hours in this space , a because it's sexy and b because the real highlight here is the food. Sunday roast, Tuesday steak, all the trimmings and huge servings, each dish is exceptional. The chef has transformed this place from a simple pub grub into a high-end gastropub, comparable to those you’d find in London. All the staff are warm and welcoming, know the locals after a few visits as you’d expect for the Irish. This is the best place in St Kilda.
