Let’s first talk about the new whisky bar and its fit-out. The interiors are absolutely gorgeous, making you feel as though you’re in a chic space in New York, Dublin, or London. I wouldn't have come to the old section solo, but I'll happily spend hours in this space , a because it's sexy and b because the real highlight here is the food. Sunday roast, Tuesday steak, all the trimmings and huge servings, each dish is exceptional. The chef has transformed this place from a simple pub grub into a high-end gastropub, comparable to those you’d find in London. All the staff are warm and welcoming, know the locals after a few visits as you’d expect for the Irish. This is the best place in St Kilda.
Recently refurbished ... It looks warm, inviting, and cool ... perfectly cooked medium-rare steak, wholesome food, great wine list, and whisky is next ...
Update 13july24nVisiting since they extended the premises and redecorated. Comfortable environment and warm it's winter. Decked out for Christmas in July in a minimalist way.nToday tried the Braised Victorian Lamb Shoulder Pie with parsley potato mash and maple roasted carrots. A beautiful crispy flaky pastry pie crust that is really tasty yet light, not chewy. Filled to the brim with shredded lamb and potato cubes. The gravy rounded up all the flavours. $30 10/10.nThere are some interesting dishes on the menu, including the Snacks, so next time I will try the Bacon & Cabbage: Sous-vide pork topside, buttery savoy cabbage, creamy mash potato and parsley sauce. $29.nQuality pub food.n*************nnFirst time, no the last. Bangers and mash with delicious gravy incorporating green peas and caramelised onion. Tasty. Cumberland sausages. $29 Mug of cider $6, 15percent public holiday surcharge Good Friday. Played music of my generation, nice.nMay become my local pub.
The mashed potatoes were so comforting! Enjoyed the chicken wings as well.nnThe service was spot-on!
Went on a Sunday when they had Christmas in July and loadsa sports on, was super busy, so definitely book if you want to get a good seat for food. Food portions are pretty decent and the staff are just so friendly and kind especially nice even though I'm sure they're under a lot of pressure. The new Whiskey bar is pretty snazzy too.nOnly feedback is I would have loved Irish creamy coleslaw in my fillet roll. Hopefully it's on the menu next time.
