We dined at 2:00pm on a Tuesday. There were plenty of tables available inside and outside and we were seated immediately.nnInside was a breathtaking recreation of an Irish pub - dark panelling, media from significant moments in Irish history on screens, many places to sit with different feelings and a broad range of Irish food and drink staples. The list of whiskeys was incredible.nnI had the beef Guinness stew and it was perfect. My beautiful wife had salmon on toast and the bacon and cabbage croquettes. The food arrived very quickly and it was hot, fresh and tasty. We spent a good deal of time stealing each others’ food. nnI had a blindingly cold Guinness pint and it was marvellous.nnThe staff were very friendly and efficient. The price was bang on what we expected.nnWe’ll be back for beer and whiskey paddles.
Let’s first talk about the new whisky bar and its fit-out. The interiors are absolutely gorgeous, making you feel as though you’re in a chic space in New York, Dublin, or London. I wouldn't have come to the old section solo, but I'll happily spend hours in this space , a because it's sexy and b because the real highlight here is the food. Sunday roast, Tuesday steak, all the trimmings and huge servings, each dish is exceptional. The chef has transformed this place from a simple pub grub into a high-end gastropub, comparable to those you’d find in London. All the staff are warm and welcoming, know the locals after a few visits as you’d expect for the Irish. This is the best place in St Kilda.
Great Irish bar and restaurant with lots of Irish memorabilia and shows playing on the tvs. The service was quick and friendly. Not much in the way of parking, aside from street parking if you get lucky. Lots to choose from on the menu. The chips were delicious and the steak sandwich was good. Chicken Parma was also received well by other guests. I would definitely book ahead to ensure you have a table reserved.
Nothing quite like an Irish bar to kick off a good weekend. I visited the Fifth Province at around eleven and the atmosphere was at its peak. Live music, Friday night football on the big screen, and a packed dance floor was all it took to lure us in. We got drinks but no food so though I’ve heard good things about the meals I can’t say much. Drinks were great though and the bar staff were having as much fun as their patrons it seemed.nnThere were so many different areas including a seated outdoor eating area, a bistro and bar. We spent most of our time in the bar which was also split into a few rooms including a section dedicated to sports fans streaming live games, and a back area for those who prefer a drink over a boogie. My spot was by the stage and the live music was enough to fill the bar and keep it going even as we headed off for the night. It got quite packed and the atmosphere was buzzing, I lost my friends a few times in the crowd but eventually found them between songs.nnIt’s quite loud in some areas of the venue so pick wisely if you’re there for conversation and a catch up. Parking is available on the streets surrounding but there’s also trams stopping out the front making getting home a breeze after a few drinks. I found it to be the most vibrant place on the street going into the early hours of the morning, so if you’re in for a night out in St Kilda put this Irish bar on the list!
Top 3 steak night. This is our 6th visit and 3rd week in a row always a steak night, will need to try another night and the steak is cooked perfectly each time. The chips are delicious and crunchy and the peppercorn sauce is extremely tasty. This would be my death row meal hands down. The wine is really nice, staff are all friendly and attentive and the renovated venue is cosy and inviting. We’ve sat outside and in the restaurant
