Charming early NZ historic house and the gardens would be a great place for a picnic. The guides give you a good insight to colonial history of the area. Respect to families who have saved this place for future generations.

Amazing docent who had known the previous owners of the house. History lesson was insightful and grounds well preserved. Book collections abounded throughout the house and library. Great way to learn some if the history of the area.

This is an amazing place, a true gem in the book of Tauranga history, the fact this place is still in existence in the condition it is in ,is a true delight, we had a group of 10 visit, we phoned first and the staff were more than happy to do a guided tour for us,when we arrived we recieved a warm welcome and were offered umbrellas due to the drizzly weather, the tour was informative, professional and a real eye opener, we all enjoyed it greatly, there was a small admission fee, but the service and experience we recieved was well worth it,i highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a genuine and enjoyable blast back into time!-thanks so much "The Elms te papa"-we will be back :-)

Looks like an interesting and lovely place, as international visitors we were put off as the entry fee was $15.00 each. Resident fee was posted as $7.50. Seems discriminatory to us.

I came here first when my friend's grandparents (the Maxwells) were living here as the caretakers. I enjoy coming back into the grounds amongst the mature trees for visits. It used to be a very quiet place but now there's a bit of traffic noise. Guided tours are offered between 11am & 3pm for a small charge. It's free to visit the garden
