Story

Cornershop is an institution in the Village of Yarraville in the western suburbs of Melbourne. We pride ourselves on our consistency, friendliness and most of all our engagement with the community around us. Located across from the Sun Theatre we offer great food & coffee 7 days a week and in the evening from Thursday to Saturday.

Great little established Cafe in Yarraville that complements all the other amazing venues in the suburb. Went there for brunch and food was extremely tasty with top quality coffee to boot. Menu has the usual crowd pleasers but also a few wildcards, for instance I had the Dahl curry bowl for brunch with dosas and it was rich in curry goodness and definitely something a but different for a Saturday morning. Service is friendly and efficient, definitely a brunch place worth coming back to.
Lots of gluten free options! Coffee was great, came out super fast like, under 2 min on a busy Sunday morning and service very prompt. Menu is quite simple but all the brunch staples are there. Was really nice to sit Al fresco on a balmy summer morning too.
Every week I go here for breakfast. It’s a treat for us and so is the establishment. Really well run with friendly staff, chilled ambience and great food….the buckwheat waffles and ice cream are to die for! Tried the raspberry and pistachio GF cupcake today….sooo good…
Healthy and hearty menu guaranteed to leave you satisfied. Zucchini Fritters and Chicken salad is great. The large loose-leaf chai is great value at $11 fills 4 mugs. Service very friendly and efficient. Lots of seating outside and in. Conveniently located opposite the Sun Theartre to catch a bite to eat before or after the movies.Food: 4/5
good little place in the heart of Yarraville. Ambiance was good and service was ok. Food was average to good. We had the Reuben sandwich 3.5/5 Chilli Scramble Eggs4/5 Waffle with pears and ice cream 4.5/5 Coffees were average as well. The menu needs a bit of work as it's clunky and hard to read/understand. Simplicity with a bit of description would be better. There weren't as many options available with poached eggs etc. Would recommend a visit as it is still decent but wasn't as good as some of the other places near by.
What a beautiful little cafe! Absolutely gorgeous atmosphere and lovely staff! Here I am to review the Smashed avocado dish! Having to add the egg and bacon , it was a big meal and different compared to the usual smashed avo I've had. With the Salsa ingredients the dish gives off a quite unique taste, if you're into trying different avo smashed meals.. I recommend trying this one! The toast was very crunchy, the Bacon was pretty good. I had a chai latte with my meal, not my favorite but went down well with the whole meal. Overall I would rate this meal's taste, price and presentation a 6.8
I had the falafel ciabata with cheese and beetroot relish. Very, very delicious. We ordered chips that they forgot but when we mentioned it, they brought it out fairly quickly.
Excellent cafe - everything was on point. A nice menu with the classic Eggs on Toast staples - using quality ingredients. Staff were really nice to deal with, attentive even when busy. Best coffee in the area. For those with dogs the footpath dining is great.

I’ve been going to the Cornershop for the last 2 years and it has felt like home to me. If going alone, I love sitting by the window overlooking the Sun Theatre. If with friends, there’s plenty of cozy tables to sit and chat. Staff are always welcoming and friendly and the food is delicious! I love their home made muffins and their coffee is on point! The ambience is also spectacular, warm lights, lots of plants and the paintings on the wall are always interesting to look at.
