We ended up having dinner here spontaneously, initially wanting to eat Japanese food. This Thai place offers a great range of the standard Thai dishes, combined with some more unfamiliar ones. Everything is high quality food and comes out quickly after ordering. Service is great, friendly and responsive. Will come back for sure!
Has this last night - was ok, just average
Great value for money. Most of the menu is consistently good quality. Service is very friendly and takeaways are quick 10mins usually. Parking on king street can be a nightmare so would suggest you walk. Restaurant is always clean.
We go here fairly often as the food is always good and the service is friendly and quick. This used to be Thaitanic, and although the new name is not nearly as cool, the food is equally as good.
great thai food staff very friendly and the cooks are actually thai..nice and clean lots to choose from entrees say 6.00 mains between 12 to 15 dollars, meal for 2 with 2 main and 2 entrees roughly 55.00.good location and popular.take away good value as well.enjoy
We went with a coupon, plenty of food for two people and service was good. I will definitely go back.
We dined here on a groupon and will not be back. The food and service left much to be desired and a tip for all you grouponers: Do not accept the rice. The first potential problem was actually getting a reservation. The groupon requires 48 hour advance booking for weekends, when actuality, they have somehow booked their weekends 6 weeks in advance. So we went during the week. No big deal. The value of the groupon was supposed to be $86, but the meals we were served were far lower quality than any $80+ thai meal we've had in Newtown. I have never eaten at this restaurant before, so I can not comment on the quality of the food when not using a groupon, but I definitely would not have wanted to pay more than the cost of the groupon $30 for the food we received. The most notable starter was the rubberized fish patty. The beef main I received was about 200g of beef Which tasted ok, served with a couple leaves of iceberg lettuce, shaved carrot, a slice of tomato and a couple razor thin slices of cucumber. Basically extremely cheap garnish. The dipping sauces they served were much too salty. The dessert was already predetermined although was a quite tasty sticky rice with coconut milk and custard of some sort. I would like to note that the more expensive option of sticky rice + mango was not offered to us even though clearly used to determine the maximum value of the groupon. The best part of dining here was the 5-10 minute dispute over the bill. On our way out, the manager informed us we owed $3.50. For what?!? Well apparently the rice served did not come with the main dish. The manager belligerently informed us that the waitress had made it VERY clear that the rice was not included with the meal and it was stated clearly in the groupon that it was not included. This was just not the case. The waitress had asked my boyfriend if he would like rice with his dish and he said yes. The only thing the groupon excluded in the fine print was the duck, barramuni and snapper. You would expect that a bowl of rice would be included in a three course meal and if not, the waitress would clearly state the rice costs additional. We argued in circles as she pointed to a stack of groupons, ALL of them having fallen victim to the $3.50 rice. What is particularly idiotic about this situation is that we came 14$ below the maximum value of the groupon $86, she argued with us over a bowl of rice in front of a half a dozen customers, we will never be back and I am compelled now to spread the word about our negative experience.
The curry was a little watery but did have lots of nice fresh crispy vegetables. We had the tom yum soup which was really nice with just the right amount of chilli spice. They serve wine ok which makes it easier if you want to just come from ork & aren't able to bring byo. Would possibly go back again if other places weren't too busy
dropped in for a groupon banquet and had about 7 dishes. One of the nicer thai venues on king, the fitout is nice and the service was on the money. Most of the things we ate entree, softshell crab, red curry came in a coconut were quite good. The dessert was ice cream with sprinkles which seemed odd but I couldn't fault the meal. The fish cakes were also good
Dead and gone... replaced by another place that has also closed. Looks like another place is opening up on site... Shame as they also did a fairly decent lunch time special
