Story

We extend a very hearty "Welcome" to all guests in our Thai Orchid Restaurant, where we hope you will have an enjoyable dining experience. Our new Food Menu has many detailed photos. Whether you are seeking simple rice and noodle dishes, stir-fried classics, or 300-year-old court recipes, we are happy to assist with your selections.

Some dishes can be intensified or toned-down in terms of spiciness. While ordering, please feel free to express your wishes in this regard. For more than ten years Thai Orchid has been offering its Thai cuisine out-of-house for both private and business occasions. We would be happy to fulfill any of your catering needs. A Real Gem! – Magical! - It’s a 30 year old building, but nothing old about the food and service! New owners have turned this place around to the good old days I remember.. It’s clean and tidy and the building has some real character. Sitting outside next to the waterfall is magical for a drink before dining inside. It’s quite unique and indication of the flexible and friendly staff. If the staff know you are new to the restaurant (or like myself and haven’t been in some time) then they will guide you through the amazing menu to figure out what you may enjoy the most. I was lucky to bump into one of the chefs getting the mint and basil straight from their garden :) His 25 years of cooking experience really showed .. making us some sensational dishes – Crispy Duck and an amazing Spicy Lemon Salmon – Some of the best dishes I’ve ever had in Christchurch! It was busy, even on the Tuesday so next time I’m booking in advance .. Hopefully see you soon! Thanks guys for the wonderful experience! 

A great spot serving up delicious meals! We came here for dinner had a fantastic table in the courtyard, the staff were lovely, got to meet the owner of the place. Service was great and timed perfectly, the food was very delicious and great size meals. Coming back for sure!

Ordering from here for year thought the new owners were doing better then past owners due to past order getting charged dinner prices for take away lunch order and then today after ordering via phone was told order ready in 15min arrived there 20min later after ringing bell many times waiting 5-10min no one coming other people came in and went into kitchen to get staff. This may be due to the over load music for a restaurant He had no idea of my order and was hopeless after ringing owner this issue was not fixed after stating there will be bad review got a call from other owner with every excuse saying food was ready and can have my card number to pay for meals. Find this very unprofessional and definitely not up to standards

Strongly recommend the new salmon dishes, cooked just to the right level and very refreshing, definitely pleased my taste buds and my parents’. Service was excellent, friendly owners made some great suggestions on food. Pleasant experience!
