Small and out of the way, but well worth it as you get to enjoy the scenery and miss polls without another soul in sight.

Geothermal mudflats.  This is a neat off the beaten path place only known to the locals....until now.  No parking spaces, easy to miss.

A free alternative to Wai-o-Tapu.  This is a should see if you are in Rotorua. It is a must see if you are nearby....and did I mention it is free?
