Huge campground with many empty looking caravans and some semi permanent residents, with a big dog friendly zone which attracted us. The kitchen was locked at 10am with all our stuff in the fridge...after 10min waiting on the phone i climbed in the window. No frills kind of place, kitchens have bare minimum. Nice lounge but a long walk from where we are.
Stayed in one of the 2 bed units, very clean and tidy place. There is an issue with ants, with signs warning you to please not leave food out. An empty can of lemonade is enough to start a parade! Great location, right on the beach. My second time staying here and will be back.
The best large campsite in the country. The staff are extra pleasant and helpful. The camp areas are very well maintained and it feels more like a community than a bunch of strangers camping out. Mostly very friendly and great international mixesLocation: 5/5
If you were tall enough you might be able to touch the planes coming in to land. But they are turbo prop so not too noisy. . Great beach and views. Even in Sept this park was busy. Catch an uber from the road nearest the beach exit via gate to the beach. Local pub/restaurant Smuggler's pub and cafe..
That was the most fabulous place we stayed at, and we travelled from Far North down East coast to Nightcaps, up West Coast to Kohaihai, across the top Back up west coast north island. The people are friendly, clean and efficient. The Facilities are fantastic, loads of new ablution blocks. Kids are catered for. Great walk around the perimeter 45 min
There were 6 kitchens to accommodate over 900 sites - the one I used had 2 fridges which was clearly not enough. The showers and toilets were great but I would be annoyed if I paid for the services of a holiday park and couldn’t store my food properly. The ground on my tent site beach front was so hard that every tent peg bent, and some couldn’t be fully banged into the ground - it was simply too hard
Pretty cool but very easy to get lost. Got lost when I was about 9 running ahead of my dad. Got in big trouble lol. Steep hill too. Big campsite with lots of places to stay. Lots of options. Had quite some fun. Lots of stuff on site to entertain you-and especially kids!Rooms: 4/5
1 of the worst paid campsite I have stayed in the last 12 days in NZ!! The kitchen has 3 electric stoves but only 1 works! The rest cannot use. Hot water dispenser is not working. No soap nor cloths for washing plates! The compound is very very big but they squeeze every one side by side front and back to each others!!!! Won’t recommend absolutely!
Affordable accommodation for all budgets. If something isn't quite right they are quick to sort it for you. Great place for kids with multiple playgrounds, mini golf and jumping pillow.
Really good camp. Plenty of "levels" to suit needs and budget. Facilities do the job. Playgrounds are great for kids Beach is lovely.
