Renovations is happening now outside and inside court house. It's always packed and yes if you for some reason have court you will have to wait a while. Unfortunately for whatever reason they are always busy. Maybe try not getting too much mischieve and let the judges breath abit easier.
I've had several interactions with Sunshine Magistrates Court through DV issues, I've had support from the Court staff, the Magistrates have been fair, the Police Prosecutors have kept me informed...a few hours of my day to sort matters wasn't a big ask...mind you, I've done nothing wrong, was there simply to have enforcement of my protection continued.
Adjourning due to my chronic disease and the severe pain from my disabilitynnDay of mention I was ready to to go in with having everything ready the day before, had clothes ready paperwork ready everything ready to go.nWith this rare disease ankylosing spondylitis stage 3 is a nasty painful disease.nMost days are manageable, some days are so incredibly painful.nnWhile on the phone to the courts as soon as it opened to take calls to ask them to adjourn due to the pain I was experiencing on the day.nTrying not to cry as I move to write down the email address they gave me to send a medical certificate.nWho ever picks up the phone was heartless with no empathy or compassion while speaking to me with a tone and then rudely hung up on while I was explaining how I can’t drive with tears running down my face from moving.nMade me feel so worthless, useless, miserable and scarednnI’m so shocked that’s the kind of people that work there.
Parking is not an issue as it is located next to the Sunshine shopping centre. Just a very short walk from there. Friendly staff.
Terrible feeling having to go to court. Not only are you intimidated by the mere fact you are having to face a magistrate, you also have the staff who belittle you and are very rude. I was told by a judge to book my next court date and ensure it was to be heard by the same judge. When requesting that the matter be heard before the same judge I was told by one very rude staff member, 'We don't judge shop here'. Wow!! I was humiliated. Legal Aid were terrible and unprofessional. They do not want to listen to what you have to say. I was advised to go for a 'diversion'. I refused. A diversion is stating you are guilty. I Finally, after four years with numerous attendances at this court, the charges were finally dropped. I get very depressed to this day thinking about it.
