Our great local airport is only about 7 minutes from home. Plenty of parking, not overly large but perfectly suited to the area. One suggestion would be a free period of parking, particularly if you are picking up or dropping off. Staff are friendly and security is effortless. Great area through security for a bite to eat Or a drink, there's a variety to choose from plus a shop for magazines, books and other items. We rarely fly out of Brisbane now, preferring to leave from Maroochydore to Sydney for international flights.
Awful staff members from check-in through to security. So rude & even shouting at us and others for no reason. The only plus with this airport was the lovely lady in the Timbers & Tides cafe, staff could learn a thing or two from her.
They don't even have an engineer here for the planes. A three hour delay so an engineer can drive up from Brisbane. Don't trust Jetstar or this airport. There is no reliability here.
Flight delayed by 3.5 hours because a nail on the runway pierced the mesh and canvas of aircraft tyre. An engineer was called in from Brisbane to assess the problem let that sink in- the engineer came from Brisbane who in turn had to call in an aircraft jack- from Brisbane.nFor an airport which claims to process well over 100,000 customers a month you'd think they would have sufficient ground crew to to sweep the tarmac, let alone an onsite engineer with a jack, but squeezing every last cent of profit at the expense of the customer's most valued commodity- time, seems to be the priority at Maroochydore airport.
The worst airport security in the country. It takes an eternity to get through into departures. I don't understand why it takes so long, but lines are nearly 50m long on a regular basis. As a regional airport, it really should have more security check lanes! If you are departing from here, give yourself more time... I fly out of here on a weekly basis, and it is broken. It took over an hour to collect bags from an afternoon arrival recently. It should be better!
