Had an enjoyable experience dining here. The service was friendly, staff were polite and attentive. The atmosphere is mellow and dim and the food was great but I found it quite heavy but overall substantial.
I visited on Subsolo on two different occasions. My thoughts on the restaurant, overall: > Great service by Talea, both times <3 > Food was good quality, sangria was fantastic > A bit pricey for the serving size > Busy. It's quite a large restaurant extra dining area away from the bar and high chairs not really able to be covered well by the current amount of staff > Moderate-high noise level, volume increases past 8pm > Surprised that ALL cards have surchage! First visit with photos, ordered sangria [16], paella croquettes [16] and the sorbet [10]: > Sangria was lovely and very sweet, with extra fruit apple and lemon bits plus a dried blood orange slice and a cinnamon stick. > Croquettes were mostly consistent across each piece, though the flavours matched up well the purée was difficult to pick up. Cheese bits were not the same size, but not burnt which was good, and may have compensated for a non-crunchy/non-crispy Paella? > Not sure if I tasted saffron, but the orange flavour was strong but refreshing - especially with the mint leaves. I would have preferred it if the sugar lumps were not sprinkled onto the sorbet and instead were on the side so that I can choose how much I want. Second visit without photos, ordered sangria [16], garlic mushroom with spinach and haloumi [15] and the meatballs with romesco sauce [19] > Sangria same level of quality yummo! > Garlic mushrooms were sauteed well, though the stalks were a bit bland. Was initially given this dish with only 1 piece of haloumi and some small slices of red capsicum - which I was confused about; Talea went back to the chef with my comment and brought back extra haloumi <3 > Meatballs were quite good, not overcooked and not overwhelmed by the romesco sauce. Apologies for the poor photo quality, I had to revert to my old Huawei phone from 2016 :
The food was great, Tapas were yum. I highly rate the customer service. Great for birthday dinners, casual dining or work functions :
Great service, food and amazing cocktails. My husband booked us the Valentine’s Day experience and it was beyond our expectations. Thank you Subsolo team for an awesome and memorable night! We will definitely come back more often
Spanish tapas restaurant in the middle of city that has a great selection of wine and and food. Paellas are quite small and pricey for the amount given.
Food was great and the people were friendly. We ordered the set menu. The food took some time between courses, but was delicious.
A favourite place I return again and again. Food has always been good and they have kept up to standards even after 3 years. They seem short on waiting staff.
Thank you to the amazing staff at Subsolo!!! We arrived in Sydney late on Wednesday night and attempted to dine here but unfortunately the kitchen was closed. Despite this the wait staff double checked if there was anything they could do to kindly help two ladies from Melbourne. We were very appreciative. So we decided we'd check them out again tonight, a busy Friday night but they squeezed us in, next to Tiger & Tash who were regulars and gave us great advice regarding the extensive wine list. The food, wine, company and service were impeccable! Thank you for a wonderful evening! ¡Salud! Sophie & Alissa
Big portions for set menu. Serving time is very slow but service staff is good and friendly
Service was great. Ambiance was great. Food, wines, cocktails were great. But, it did take over 1.5 hours from the time of our booking to get seated and served our food no delays on arrival or ordering from our end. I wouldn't go back solely because of this. Also, venue is larger and brighter than it appears on photos.
