I find that anytime visiting the State Theatre is always a joy. I love the craftsmanship, the architecture & the amazing customer service provided. I saw Swan Lake over the weekend & they could not have pick a better place for this lovely ballet, as it suited very well to the performance
I have been wanting to visit this heritage listed venue for a long time now but I wanted to make the first visit a special one. I finally got the chance when Sarah Blasko played on March 24 2022 as part of her “As Day Follows Night” anniversary tour. She is made for a venue with this character and charm. The building is nearing 100 years of existence and has had a colourful history as a theatre, cinema and live concert venue. Before you even walk in, you are greeted with a stunning facade and then, when you head inside your eyes are met with some stunning architecture that takes you back to a long forgotten time. If you record concerts like I do, you will also find the acoustics quite good for capturing sound. This is by far one of, if not the best venue for substance and culture in Australia. It may have been my first visit but it most definitely won’t be my last.
Classic, perfect design and arts all around the theatre, tons of statues matching with design, nice staff, small bar and great for special events. Have been there few times and every time impressed with mesmerising views.
A gorgeous theatre that has very comfy seats and a really good view from pretty much any seat in the house. In-house staff are lovely too. Mezanine is arguably the best place to sit.
This place is simply breathtaking. The chandeliers, the artwork, the hallways, it takes you back to 19th century Europe. Saw Jim Jefferies. The acoustics and lighting were flawless. I am certain seeing a musical or a concert would really utilise the venue to full potential. The seats are dated but are fairly steep in the circle so that tall people won’t obscure your view too badly. Fairly comfortable seating- not much back support but it’s fine. I caught myself looking at the ceiling and noticed some of the lights don’t work but I imagine it would be so hard to change those light bulbs. Toilets are accessible. Place is easy to get to and find.
The ambience is unbelievably beautiful. There is so much to look at, it's worth arriving a little earlier than your show so you have time to wander and gaze in awe. The service was professional and the staff is highly approachable. The prices for the beverages do not allow me to recommend getting a drink there but if you do, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Was a great experience watching Eclipse Pink Floyd Orchestrated show. Closest one can get to a Pink Floyd live performance in an excellent theatre. State Theatre is awesome a must visit.
Beautiful theatre! Aren’t we lucky to have architectures like this? The interiors reminded me of Great Gatsby then later found out the theatre was built in 1920s.
Very beautiful and definitely stunning venue, the seating was my only complaint but they are heritage listed so they can't make any upgrades. But overall, a great theatre.
I book a tour of this theater today. It was great, the guide was really interesting. You can go on stage and access the backstage, take as much pictures that you want. Just a note, there are too many covid sign and mark inside, it spoils the place and the photos a bit
