Absolutely adore this place! The smell, the location, the layout, the products; it’s basically just what I imagine a spice shop to be. Since finding this shop a few years ago, I’ve almost exclusively bought my spices and herbs from here. It feels like every time I go there I notice something new. They offer such a diverse range of dried herbs and spices, ground and whole, with a large range of their own spice mixes for baking and cooking. They also stock fresh herbs in a fridge. Some other things they offer worth mentioning are: Tasmanian grown saffron, homegrown walnuts among other fresh nuts, some fresh fruits, a notable range of hot sauces, liquid smoke, cookwares, flavouring/essences, dried beans, grains and legumes, and teas. And so much more! One of my favourite things is that they stock different size jars for spice storage, which make for the most satisfying collection experience. I haven’t taken them up on it yet but they mentioned it would be possible for me to refill my spice jars without buying the plastic bags they come in, which makes it probably one of the only places in Hobart that offer a waste free spice option! Another thing I appreciate is that I’m personally not very social and this place offers just the right amount of customer engagement for both extroverts and introverts. I believe it’s a family run business and they seem to build good relationships with regular customers whether you’re a talker or not. Whether you’re visiting or a local, I highly recommend checking this place out!
One of the most amazing ranges of international foods and spices in the city! Highly recommend
Great place to pick up a good range of cooking spices and sauce and all in between at good prices mixed with a friendly greeting when you enter check it out people.
They import a large range of Mehran brand products, which are spice packets with recipes on them, so far I have tried the sindi biryani, normal biryani, and butter chicken and they all turned out great, repeat customer
Great service, gave really helpful recommendations. A lovely family owned business selling local produce, freshly made by hand. Gladly return for more!
Absolutely love this store. Fantastic array of delicious herbs and spices. Wonderfully friendly service . Has been one of my favorite places for a long time and a must for anyone who loves to cook!
This is an overdue review. Dec 2019 I purchased 2 zaatar packets 1kg each as I do every 6-8 months along with other items. Normally zaatar per pack is $15.07 from this shop and I have been shopping from them for years but last December as I was buying i got charged $35 per pack. At the time I was in a hurry and I didn’t question and I wanted to double check the price I had at home to see if the price was $35 then too. But no last time I had paid $15.07 per pack too. I meant to visit them back but having a busy life and then having COVID19 hitting, I didn’t have the opportunity to be in touch with these guys. And I thought I’d just not shop them ever again. But even after so many months I can’t stop but feel ripped off! So I sent them a private message via their website and via FB to ask why I was charged so much. But I received no messages as I can tell they read my message at least on Messenger. I went online and purchased from a mainland store for even cheaper price $12 inc postage per pack. I would have rather supported my local shop but I can’t value a business who doesn’t value their repeat customer. I also always thought they never smiled and weren’t as friendly despite other comments mentioned here. Only the young fella who seemed more relaxed and chatty. I hope this attitude changes in this business until then I won’t be returning.
I have been shopping here for years. It is a friendly helpful shop with fresh nuts - Grown locally where possible. Also a good variety of spices.
Love the selection of spices and flavours on offer. Knowledgeable staff. Fresh options also available. Larger sizes available on request.
Very impressive selection of herbs and spices. They have some fantastic natural blends for stock and fresh locally made Kimchi.
