Speights Ale House is great for your casual nice dinner. They offer a great selection of hearty New Zealand food incl venison, lamb, steak, chicken and local caught fish. Quite big portions that will happily feed any hungry traveller. Nice rustic farm style decor that makes you feel at home in New Zealand.

Great restaurant! My husband and I had the Stewart island salmon, it was excellent, cooked to perfection, highly recommended.

Stopped in on a rainy day for a few beers to plan our trip. Great music, good selection of beers, good atmosphere, good wi-fi :)

Our meals were very nice for pub meals and quite reasonable, Thankyou. We had beef burger and fish of the day. The service was quick however they were very quite. We went there because over the road was packed. The weather was warm but more importantly so was the beer!!!! The waiter (name withheld) that served us seemed very stressed and run off her feet.I mentioned to the waiter the beer was warm and told her I’d have another but a cold one if they have. She very bluntly informed me thats all they have and no one else has complained, and the glasses are not chilled. As we paid, she apologised for the warm beer and said she didn’t have time to check the temperature but would look in to it. Hopefully they do.

We have been to the Wanaka and Queenstown branches and both have been amazing. Great food, great service, nice environment and a good price. Would highly recommend to anyone!!
