Story

There's nothing illegal about Speakeasy Kitchen Bar on Chapel Street in South Yarra, but the cobbled back alley entrance from Commercial Road to the courtyard bar may indicate otherwise. The Chapel Street frontage is a welcoming admission to a light and airy space for eating and drinking the day (and night) away. The sizable terrace out the back reinforces the secretive prohibition era theme and the impressive cocktail accompanies an all-day menu which means you have every reason to stay for the long haul.

Great venue for after work drinks and a light nosh. The courtyard is particularly nice. Extensive cocktail menu. Friendly service. Speakeasy has been around for years and is an underated place to go to on Chaps. It's nice to see that's still are after all these years.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful tapas lunch today at Speakeasy Kitchen Bar. We had the dolmadies which were just the right temperature and moist and tasty, the meatballs were in a lovely herbal tomato sauce and an excellent tabbouleh salad. Their coffee was very, very good. We'll definitely go back.

This place was absolutely incredible. The service, food and cocktails, all amazing! All to the sounds of wicked house music, courtesy of some of Melbourne's best. Everybody seriously needs to visit this place at least once in their lifetime!

Thank you so much to the team for hosting our event, and looking after us in the upstairs private dining room, it was so spacious with gorgeous furnishings. The canapés were great portions and absolutely delicious.

Absolute pleasure spending time at Speakeasy - the staff were so lovely and accommodating - Damien's expertise and knowledge is second to none! The service was top notch ! And the function space is so amazing ! we will definitely be back - couldn't rate this place more highly

Food is amazing and well priced and the staff are super lovely and helpful. We over-ordered. The Tapas are a very generous size, but it was too delicious not to eat it all. Will definitely be back.

Speakeasy accommodated a birthday for 40 pax in the courtyard on a Saturday night. We had an absolute riot right up until close. The online ordering is functional but quite poor UI, still managed to order plenty of food and drinks though. Thanks for being awesome team!

Always love the food. Highly recommend the dishes they offer. Vinny the chef is definitely very good at his job and the best in business. Must try Resturant and bar. They also got singers performing at night.
