A super convenient hub—right in the heart of Brisbane’s cultural scenennSouth Bank Station has honestly become one of my go-to stops when getting around the city. Whether I’m heading into the CBD or meeting friends at the parklands, it’s super convenient—especially because both the train station and the busway are right next to each other.nnThe location is unbeatable. Step out and you’re moments away from South Bank Parklands, QPAC, the State Library, and some of Brisbane’s best riverside spots. You can also easily walk over the Goodwill Bridge to get to the city or QUT Gardens Point. There’s plenty of signage, and the connection between the busway and train is seamless.nnAccessibility-wise, it’s solid. There are lifts, tactile indicators, and ramps throughout. Platforms are well-lit and feel safe even in the evenings. I do wish there were more seating areas though—especially during busy times—and a few more bins wouldn’t hurt either.nnService reliability is pretty good. I’ve rarely had long waits here—buses come often, especially on weekdays. Trains are on time most of the day, but late evenings can get a bit slower. During peak hours, it can get crowded, but it never feels chaotic.nnIf you’re visiting Brisbane or just trying to explore more locally, this station’s a great jumping-off point. It connects to both the Beenleigh and Cleveland train lines, plus major bus routes like the M1 and M3.nnWould love to see a small coffee cart or something here one day—it would make early commutes so much better! But all up, it’s a clean, well-located, and reliable stop. Great for both locals and tourists.
South Bank railway station is located on the Gold Coast line in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is one of two stations serving the South Brisbane area, the other being South Brisbane station.South Bank station is served by Beenleigh, Cleveland and Gold Coast line services.
The train to Gold Coast was supposed to arrive on Platform 1 but suddenly changed to Platform 3 at the last minute. No clear announcements were made until it was too late. It shows a complete disregard for people’s time — very frustrating and poorly managed. And I am having a coffee now… waiting for next train…
Awesome riverside walks and attractions both day and night. Even the construction site of new tower blocks are lit up, cranes joining in the illumination, all reflected in the river. What a fantastic, clean, proud, expanding city this is. People are friendly, cafe culture and the out-door life is mainstream and this time of year the Jacaranda trees are just stunning. Public transport is cheap, efficient, runs on time. Electric bikes and scooters are provided by the city and the surrounding hilly countryside is beautiful - Mount Coot-tha providing amazing views of the CBD, complete with cafe, walking trails and two waterfalls. This beauty-spot a mere ten minutes or so from the city by car.
Good access and train info. Breezy as the station sits high however can be very cold in winter.
