The food is amazing as always! We have been here several times, and the quality of food is consistent. The service is impeccable. We live in Sydney, but when the first time we visited the Brisbane, we tried to visit this restaurant 2 years ago, we fell in love with food, service, and ambience. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and family and be back soon!
We booked dinner here because we had a taste for Japanese and the reviews were quite solid and their menus sounded delicious. We had an early seating so underground parking was very easy and complimentary for the first 2 hours which corresponded to the length of our seating. The restaurant is very spacious and modern and has the look and feel of a true Japanese establishment. With this in mind, some of the seating areas may require you to take off your shoes, so try to avoid holey socks or smelly feet when you have your reservation! Our host seated us and is a short time, our waiter came over to explain the menu and the specials. He was very pleasant and helped us with deciding on our orders. We had a set menu and added a roll. Thankfully we didn't order anything else as we were just full enough so as not to have a food coma and experience discomfort all the way home. The ingredients were fresh and the plating were also pleasing to the eye. The flavor combinations were very tasty as well. There were a fair number of children in the restaurant for the 5:30 seating, and if that is not your scene, you may opt for a later seating. We are curious about the tappanyaki menu so we will definitely be heading back here in the future. The food is expensive, but the execution of the chefs was very good. There are more reasonable menu options available if needed.
Brilliant food, brilliant service, excellent environment. I would definitely recommend the sukiyaki which is so good and I could not forget the taste and texture of the A5 wagyu with that sauce which balances the sweetness and saltiness so well. Meanwhile, it’s been a while since last time I ate some tofu, the tofu there is good as well. Please do taste them. Sashimi is also fantastic especially the New Zealand King Salmon Belly is the best. It’s soft and sweet and so so fresh.
They never disappoint each time we visit. The service is always impeccably polite, the food is always fresh and well served. Flavours are always on point. Every dish served is delicious and we keep coming back because it’s worth it. I highly recommend everyone to visit Sono for special occasions or even just for dinner to spoil yourself. It’s a happy place.
An amazing dining experience with excellent service. The ambience was calming. If you want a riverside view it would be better to call them and ask for it. I got the Sono Tasting Course and the food was mouthwatering. The appetiser platter and sashimi were my favourite.
