Story

Smith & McKenzie Steak House opened in March 2009 and is located in Chartwell, Hamilton. The establishment contains a 150 seat restaurant, two garden bars, a separate bar and a function room located on the mezzanine level.

The comprehensive menu caters to all dining experiences form casual to formal. The menu is created by the talented kitchen team led by Head Chef David Cooper and changes with the seasons. Smith & McKenzie dry ages their steak on site and uses a slow cooking technique for the ultimate steak experience.

The bar has an extensive wine and beverage list and offers the Heineken Start Draught range of beers on tap including Heineken, Tiger and Montieths.
The decor is stylish yet unpretentious. Smith & McKenzie is an establishment that can cater to all occasions from a casual after work drink, to a long lunch, or a formal dinner. We have an experienced team on hand, 7 days a week, to create the perfect Smith & McKenzie experience everytime.

Smith & McKenzie is open on all public holidays except for Christmas day.

Nice restaurant, but for a steakhouse I thought there might have been more than 1 steak on the menu. I ordered the chicken meal and the presentation was very good. It didn't look like it would fill me but it did and was scrumptious. Dessert was well- presented and tasted good. Overall it was a very good night out 😁

Spent my birthday dinner here with the wife. Took a while to get entertained from the door, then waited another 20 minutes to place our order. Steak was good quality meat, but taste could be improved.  Wife's side dish was served very late because they forgot about it, but it was nice of them to take it off our bill. Beautiful ambiance on the inside of the restaurant.
