House renovations often leaves one with the feeling of dread with one often wondering about the quality of the tradesmen that one is employing, is the work being undertaken going to resemble what you have in mind & what are the structural limitations of the dwelling. Combine this with being new to the Sunshine Coast, the feeling of apprehension increases.

Fortunately for me, whilst researching the availability of builders/tradesmen willing to include aspects that I wanted in my renovation - budget permitting, I was referred to Gavin McArthur of Smart Choice Homes by a number of suppliers/individuals in the industry.

Preliminary discussions with Gavin, resulted in my feeling that I had found a builder able to work with the budget available, provide the design aspects/finishes I required & complete the work within my time frame. 

The positive aspect of working with Gavin to undertake my renovations was that I was working with a builder who is proud of his product & the processes involved in creating that product. To summarise my evaluation of Gavin:-
        * genuine;
        * professional;
        * great communicator;
        * ensures that the client is fully informed of legal aspects relating 
           to the renovations;
        * high standards for self & the trades he employs;
        * client design aspects are adhered to;
        * works within the budget specified;
        * provides a structured billing statements & payment framework;
        * ensures that structural aspects of the renovation are fully
           identified & addressed;
        * utilises high quality hardware to enhance presentation;
        * liaises well with external tradesmen/suppliers;
        * is hands on (when required);
        * completed the renovation ahead of contract timeframe;
