Story

Husband & wife, Rob Hastie and Tracey Colebrook grew shibui on a simple footprint of ‘low fuss’ hair. Their dry/freehand cutting, natural approach and a preference for using their hands over the brush became the essence of the brand.

At shibui our approach is relaxed and intuitive our attitude is down to earth.

We work with an awareness of fashion but endeavour to deliver hair that is not contrived and is easy to maintain.

shibui is all about understanding and appreciating the true characteristics of your hair. We embrace the imperfections and variables that make us all unique.

shibui colour specialists appropriate colour to your natural colouring, skin tone and eye color. They prefer to colour after the cut, reading the texture and shape to enhance and excite.

Wanting an easy, low maintenance style. Shibui was recommended to me by a friend. My cutter was Park & OMG I am truly grateful for what he has done. Park spent time cutting my frizzy thick hair, then showed me how to apply product for an effortless natural look. My new style is so easy, I couldn't be happier. Thanks Park! Would highly recommend.

AVOID> Really Bad, the colour was a waste of money, had to go back and get it fixed , made it worse. Given the most horrid attitude by the manager - She is a moron. Spent $390 on a cut and colour, wasted 8 hours of my time over 2 days as I had to go back to try to get it fixed, again they failed to get simple blond on light brown hair. Went to another salon to get it fixed - all said and down it cost me over $700. DONT GO.

Worst experience ever at a hairdresser and this is speaking from a local’s point of view.  Shibui hair is nothing but a bunch of fake as pretentious hipster try hards! You’re better off spending your ‘$100+’ elsewhere.  Booked this place as a last minute appointment because it’s close to home for a urgent haircut before dinner plans that same night (btw this place charges different prices not for the style/difficulty of the cut but rather which hipster wannabe you ended up with based on your time or preference) Booked the appointment at 7pm waited till 7:40pm before my hairdresser was ‘available’ to cut my hair despite me going up to the front desk asking twice to follow up and explaining to them I have dinner appointment at 8! (Never even waited this long for a doctor apt. let alone a haircut! Absolutely ridiculous!). This is not to mention how rude the two front of desk were; worst customer service I’ve ever experienced from someone that’s supposed to be ‘the front/face of the business’! The part that annoys me the most is that I basically paid $90 for a 10-minute haircut that’s just a trim of split ends!! And to top it all up I ended up paying to receive the worst customer service ever from a bunch of lying wannabes. Few days later the very person that was serving me at the front desk called me back to hear my feedback and pretended she was someone else until eventually found out the truth from a further call received from the store manager that it was her all along! OMG where is the integrity and respect for your customers! shameful! I’m now campaigning with all my friends, family, colleagues and anyone else not to ever book this place!! ( I can't post this without clicking on 1 star, but this place should be a 0) Do not book this place if you don’t want to waste your money!!!!

Good hair friendly staff. However for the price was I would have preferred my hair to be washed twice rather than once so that it was especially clean
