Honestly these guys are brilliant. The best money you will spend when it comes to educating your little one/s on swimming! Highly recommend this swim school, especially to parents like myself that enjoy short lessons with small groups and down-to-earth educators. My son is also a little nervous around other people he does not know which is normal but also something I’ve always struggled with - being comfortable in social situations, and [Lucus?] the male educator is just phenomenal at providing the patience and understanding that will ultimately help my little guy to come out of his shell. I really look forward to our future lessons! If you’ve never tried swimming lessons before with your child, or they’ve had a bad experience elsewhere - definitely give these guys a go! Well worth the money and it’s never too late to start.
*Review updated following further communication with business* I was disappointed with the one lesson we attended. I’d heard great things/been recommended by friends, but I did not have the experience I had hoped with their baby class. I attended the baby class- however my 5 month old was in a class with a 14 month old, clearly a large difference in skills. I felt that The class wasn’t overly structured and wasn’t explained well. We mostly moved about in the water and then the instructor gave us water cups and a bath book to look at things we already do in the bath at home while they did skills with the other baby. My baby did become upset for the second part of the lesson so we didn’t participate as much at the end- but that is to be expected. The instructor did apologise at the end of the class that it looked like I had been booked into the wrong class and that someone from the swim school would call me. I wasn’t contacted by the swim school so contacted them via voicemail and email and they got in contact by the end of the week explaining that there weren’t many babies of a similar age and that their infant classes are generally mixed ie younger and older babies together, I likely wouldn’t have booked the class if I knew that in advance and they took that feedback on board/advised they will be mindful to tell other families booking baby classes this in the future.
I love Moorooka Shapland. I currently have two girls enrolled and my older boys also learnt to swim through this amazing swim school. All of the teachers have quickly built relationships with my kids so that they feel safe and secure during their lessons. They are extremely encouraging and supportive of the differing abilities/stages that they are at. I also love how easy it is to self-manage cancellations and make-up lessons. So convenient for busy schedules! Thank you Moorooka Shapland!
A big thumbs up for Shaplands. My little guy has had a fear of the water and has had some bad experiences with other swim schools being forced under water. In a very short time with Lucas, he is absolutely loving swimming and wants to go every afternoon, walking out each time he says he still wants to come when he is a big kid. He now does belly flops, which is a huge achievement. Ive had to jiggle class times due to work and they have been really helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend the small classes, the excellent program that works, and the friendly manner they conduct their business. We love it! Wish we came here from the start. A big thank you!
We love Shapland at Moorooka! I have two kids there. Small classes, so the teachers can meet the children where they're at. Very encouraging, and good with kids who are a bit scared. Our kids have come so far! Lucas and Marie are lovely, and April went above and beyond for us today! Thank you!
My 2 kids love swimming at Shaplands Moorooka. My son has been going for 2-3 yrs and he has grown to not only love the lessons but also the swimming teachers who he has come to know. Lucas and the team are all very professional and approachable and make the lesson not only educational but really fun. Only 3 kids to a class so they get a lot of hands on attention and the heated pool is a great size.
Our 3yo daughters swimming and confidence in the water has improved so much! Her teacher April, along with Lucas, are so encouraging to her. We love the small classes and she's always excited to jump in the pool for her lessons. Going to get the new baby started soon too!
An excellent swim school- cannot rate highly enough. My daughter started in 2013 as a baby and is now 6 yrs olds and an excellent and very confident swimmer. My 2 young sons 4 and 9mo are also enrolled and are quickly developing into proficient swimmers. We live 30 mins away but choose to travel to Shapland Moorooka weekly rather than change to a closer swim school because we feel that we could not get better swimming tuition than the kids are getting under the guidance of Lucas and the other instructors. Can't recommend enough!
Lucas is an excellent swimming teacher. My daughter's confidence in the water and swimming abilities have greatly improved in just a few weeks of lessons. So pleased with the results so far! Highly recommend.
Yesterday morning I took my daughter Poppy who is 18 months old for her first swimming lesson @Shapland Swim School Marooka. Upon entering we were greeted by Lucas and he explained to me where everything was and how everything works etc which was great. Poppy can be a little shy and timid in unfamiliar settings however with Lucas’s experience he got us to do a few activities in the water which helped Poppy relax and got her confidence up which allowed for her to then enjoy the whole experience in the pool. There was an opportunity after Poppy’s introduction to swimming with Lucas with another swimming instructor April. Poppy was happy in the water so I was happy to stay plus there was another woman and her son doing the class so I thought that would be good. The class went great and Poppy was really enjoying having another child to learn alongside and I found April’s teaching methods to be very thorough and also enjoyable for both the parent and child. Lucas and April clearly have a good understanding of what is necessary to build up the kids trust and confidence which then allows them to participate in the activities that will ultimately allow them to learn to swim safely in any pool over time. I was very impressed and highly recommend Shapland Swim School Marooka. I will continue to take Poppy there to learn to swim.
