There are some good teachers at this school who provide a lot of information and resources to help us with our learning, however on the other hand, there are other teachers who are quite not suitable to be teaching students. I believe the school rules are quite unnecessary and gives us a lack of freedom to express ourselves through the way we dress, even if it's appropriate to wear. Simple things like earrings, accessories and the design of our satchels aren't affecting the way students learn, and other students in this school have definitely said the same as well. If accessories and satchel designs are too distracting for the teachers, then maybe that's a you-problem for them and they shouldn't be so judgemental and care so much about things that are irrelevant to our learning in the first place. If the student is wearing something that's inappropriate and offensive to others in a way, then that's a good reason to stop them. Students should also have the option to choose if they would like to wear a bag or a satchel to class, they should be able to choose what is comfortable for them to handle with. Personally, I do like satchels as I have a pretty heavy bag, but I know for others it's convenient for them to wear a bag instead. It's good that the school focuses on comfort for the students instead of the schools appearance.
My daughter is in grade 10 and is still being treated like she is 4 years old. This school in apart of the original group of school who use yondr pouches to hold students phones during the day. These are not practical and I know multiple students who have had to cut these pouches to free their phones because the locks got stuck. In previous years the school has done checks as students walk into the school to see if they are using the pouches and keeping them locked during the day. Past weeks staff and faculty have been standing outside the gates checking pouches on the way out of school as well as on the way in. This caused my daughter and many of her friends to leave 20 minutes later than usual ultimately leading to her missing her bus and having to wait for the next one for over 30 minutes. instead of leaving school at 2:54pm on the first bus she left at 3:37pm. This messed up her schedule for the rest of the day as she had other activities to attend. This is extremely unprofessional and horrible behavior from the school. Today the deans did classroom checks and were checking is students phones were locked away. Unfortunately my daughter yr 10 accidently broke the pin the part that locks the pouch from her yondr last year by sitting on her school bag. This hasn't been an issue until now so I thought there was no need to PAY to replace a pouch that could possibly be broken again. The dean saw her broken yondr and didn't even let her explain what happened and sent her to the office. She is now forced to hand her phone into school every morning for the rest of the term! This is insane and a major over reaction for something that was an accident. I've had so many issues with this school throughout the years my kids have attended and things are getting so much worse. The uniform policy is awful!! if you wear a black undershirt you get a detention, if your plain silver or gold stud earing are even a mm bigger than 3mm you get in trouble, if you have a hair band that isn't green, white, or brown you get written up. Students are also expected to pay 70 dollars for a school bag only to force them to keep the bags in their lockers throughout the school day. They either have to carry all of their books, laptop, and other belongings from class to class or buy a black laptop bag. Then if you have a black bag they will take it and tell you it's not good enough to be used as a laptop bag throughout the school day. So many ridiculous rules and pages and pages of uniform policy. This school is treating student like dirt and I will not stand for this. Be better Corinda State High School!!!
I am very upset my son cannot bring his partner from another school to formal. As a parent i wanted my son to go to formal with a girl however, for some reason Corinda is selfish with money and will not allow students from other schools to attend them partners formals and semi formals.
I find this school very amusing with the tuckshop prices, yondr pouches and Ms Jamieson Especially. Her car window got smashed 4 years ago.
Students should be able to invite their partners from other schools to join them in formal.
formal uniform is incredibly uncomfortable and gets really hot in the summertime, the sport uniform is pretty good but we arent allowed to wear it which sucks. lockers are a very stupid idea too and i wish the school had discussed with and asked the students before about such a major change rather than just enforcing it randomly. they rlly need to involve us the students properly by giving us polls about what WE want or actually listening to our suggestions, not just enforcing what the school thinks we want and executing the idea horribly. uniform policy needs a total makeover
This school is the most doodoo water trash school in the world, my kid has been at this school one day and he started vaping,DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE
Corinda High School does have many good opportunities, such as the Agriculture, Music, Art and Dance programs, but the obnoxious rules ruin the school life. The principal cares more about how the school looks to parents and people outside the school than the welfare of the students, which results in overcomplicated strict rules that are useless. For example, the new implementation of lockers is very useful, but there are now about 3 pages of rules regarding this. We cannot have anything other than our lunchbox during break, so we have to go to our locker twice a break. The school is very vast and my locker is in the other side of it, so I loose about 10 minutes of my break, and I am sometimes late to class. The new rules micro-mange our lives, and does not give us the independence and responsibility a school should give us. The school should just give us the lockers and satchel, and let us use it as we wish. Additionally, the uniform is very uncomfortable and hot. The rules around the uniform are so strict and causes a lot of stress among students. The principal wants the school to be a private school but it is not and that will never change. In conclusion, unless you are coming to this school for a excellence program, it is not worth coming to CSHS.
If i could i would give it a zero cuz maddy takai goes there and shes a horrible person
