Always come here to eat the satays chicken and beef. Very tasty and fragrant. Satay sauce is good. Comes withs rice cakes, cucumber and red onions for dipping. Top place to have satays in Perth. Would recommend
Amazing this is the best most authentic Malaysian food in Perth. Been a chef for 17 years and eaten everywhere. This place is a hidden jem you must try it you'll definitely become a local
Only downside is that their tasty beef and chicken satay skewers are quite pricey compared to their other dishes on the menu....as a family Meal or on their own Serving portions are reasonable. This place has only outdoor seating so best be ready to brave the cold if you come during winter or cooler nights!!
Satay chicken is served hot and big chunk of meat, tender and fragrant. Reminds me of satay back home in Singapore! Best satay I have tasted so far in Perth! Nasi Goreng Specials is great too! Friendly staff, lady boss is friendly and welcoming. Will visit again!
First of all prices are way too high. Prices used to be $33.90 for a satay set of 15 sticks a year ago, and now it’s $47.50. Along with that, the quality, taste and service have completely gone down the drain. Not sure if the owners have changed since I’ve last been there, because they used to have the best satays. The noodles we had was tasteless and just tasted spicy. The satays were burnt, hard and dry and when I bit into it tasted like there was egg shells because of it being burnt. The satay sauce was not normal satay sauce, no idea what that was. Spent over $200 and was so excited to eat there and left feeling very disappointed and like I completely wasted my money.
There are so many Malaysian restaurants in Perth and I don’t easily come across one that stands out. Satay on Charcoal is where you can find delicious, authentic Malaysian food without all the fuss. For less than $20, I got a great nasi goreng with well made beef rendang and two fragrant chicken satay sticks. The serving was very generous and it felt just like home except my mum would probably say ‘omg there are two meals in here’. Not for me mum. The friendly owner came for a chat to find out what I thought about the food, I was very grateful for such good quality food and I thanked her for feeding me so well. This will now be one of my regular spots. If you’re too full after the meal, just go down to the foreshore for a cute little walk, it’s right there.
Found this place via Google reviews. Had the lamb satays and the Nasi Goering special. Fine dining this is not. If you want really tasty food, happy to recommend. We will definitely return.
This is just too awesome. Generous portion of food, and the smoked beef is superb, nicely cut, thick aromatic gravy, you can't find anywhere better than this. And we love the chuncky peanut sauce + juicy satay. The satay is a treat from them, just too kind. We can't say how satisfied we are.
pretty disappointed with the quality of the food. not sure if there are new owners since last time i came, but food quality and service has gone downhill since last time. ordered 138 dollars worth of food very very overpriced, and didn’t feel the need to finish it. peanut sauce wasn’t the regular sauce they use, it was chunky with whole peanuts and oil rather than smooth. satay sticks were very dry and col, nasi goreng was very bland, gado gado was also bland. management is poor, from reading other reviews i can see that owners disagree with any opinion other than their own, making fun of unsatisfied customers. will not ever be returning, wish you well in your poorly managed and executed ‘small’ business.
Was craving for some satay and looked forward to trying this restaurant but unfortunately was a bit let down by quality of the food that i had- satay skewers was bit too hard and gado2 is full of cabbagenot sure if that’s the authentic style but I didn’t like it.
