Champagne. Martinis. Whiskey. Butlers.
Rufus Melbourne is Greville Street's newest establishment for an intimate, civilised drink.
You may not agree with his politics, but one thing was for certain: Sir Winston Churchill knew how to appreciate good food and good wine. Usually with his beloved poodle, Rufus (or Rufus II, such was the outcome of unfortunate circumstances) by his side.
It is said: "The poodle [Rufus] ate in the dining room with the rest of the family. A cloth was laid for him on the Persian carpet beside the head of the household, and no one else ate until the butler had served Rufus's meal."
Named for Churchill’s most faithful friend(s), we give you Rufus, Greville Street’s newest champagne parlour and terrace.
Rufus harks back to the bygone-era hospitality - when the Pol Roger was flowing, the martinis were dry and a whisky was sorely needed at the end (an sometimes the beginning) of a long, arduous day in the war room. It’s a celebration of one man’s love of the finer things in life.
Drop in any time for a civilised drink, while our highly-trained butlers wait on you, hand and foot.
