OUR HISTORY

Our Passion & Our Mission

Rubens has been a part of the Blackwood community for over 27 years.

The name of the shop comes from the original owners Bernese Mountain dog, Ruben became not only part of the shop but a part of the Blackwood community, people travelled from all over SA to visit the shop to see Ruben. Sadly Ruben passed away, but the name stuck and that's the way we like it.

We want shopping at Rubens to be an experience the whole family can enjoy. Bring your pets to the store and we’ll give them the VIP treatment while you shop. Test out our products, grab a tasty treat for your pet, pick up some essentials and have fun!

Love this place! We normally make our own dog food but the loaf here is fantastic if you don't have the time. Preservative free too.

A great source of everything for the family pet. Home made meatloaves, fresh foods and a super variety of accessories. My no. 1.

We shop for the great meat loaf.  The other reviews seem surprisingly varied, I don't usually worry about others' remarks.  The product is fantastic and well priced and my dog loves going there.  She always gets fuss and little treats.  Highly recommended.  I have found all the people there nice and helpful and will carry things to the car if needed.
