We loved everything on the buffet, especially the desserts: they were excellent ! The meat taste amazing, probably thanks to the great (French) cook ! Awesome view, welcoming staff, hard not to come back on the next visit to Waitomo !

Warning: If you think yourself anything of a foodie, just don’t go. I get that it’s a buffet, but this is the kind of bland cooking you’d expect back in the ‘90s. If it were $12, it would have been a decent deal, but to pay over $30 per person for food that most capable people could whip up themselves in minutes is a joke. Plenty of wonderful, avant-garde restaurants to go to in NZ—leave this place for people who don’t know good food. Also, we went here because it said there was an animal farm, and the older lady told us to just wander around (she was standoffish and rather rude). Wandered we did: There was a highland cow behind a fence...nice animal farm, guys. Save your money.

We drove 10 mins to Roselands then discovered that place is mainly targeted at tour groups. The staff there just ignored us until I asked to pre-pay for buffet, then I was told because the group of four just walked in, not with a tour group, so we are so called "casuals". "Pay $36 per person for lunch. That's a a good price in NZ." The thing is, they normally charge $18 or less for lunch. No cellphone reception up there, so if you do visit Roselands, please make sure you have something on you for personal safety, otherwise when the staff members ganging up on you, you will have to pay whatever amount they dictate. I bet Roselands is not a Kiwi owned business because New Zealanders are way nicer.

This so called "all you can eat" buffet is not what you think. Advertised outside as $15 dinner, you drive 10 min only to be told that the $15 dinner is only for rice, roast potatoes and a beef casserole. There is another $35 option with 6 or 7 more dishes, which were all basic dishes, nothing special about them, and gave you an option to choose from 1 of 4 meats. They didn't let you take food from the $15 section even though we payed more for the more expensive option. The desserts were disappointing aswell, all they gave was anzac discuits, oranges, and carrot cakes. I would hardly call that dessert. Very disappointed.
