I came here on a late weekday afternoon so it was quiet and peaceful. The ambiance of the cafe is nice and warm. Staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Super Greens and it was huge. For $16 I didn’t expect it to be such a generous portion with 2 slices of sourdough, heaps of kale, peas, broccolini, half an avocado and a perfectly poached egg. Definitely looks healthy but it tastes more indulgent than you would think since the kale is deep-fried. Overall the dish was delicious, especially with the beetroot hummus, but I do recommend asking a a wedge of lemon because the touch of acidity can bring this dish to a higher level. Almond latte was just how I like it. Creamy and smooth, the bean was dark roasted and bitter style but I prefer that to sour style so I did enjoyed it very much. Apparently they have free refills for hot batch brew, which I might go for next time I come here with my laptop to do some work in the afternoon.
Came here for the first time in ages and it was just as good as ever. I think it's changed hands recently but the menu is similar to what I tried before. I shared the smashed avo and the pumpkin fritters which both contain large serves of haloumi, which was my main drive to try them. The avo also has cream cheese dollops and feta and the haloumi is fried in chunks. Meanwhile, the fritters have grilled haloumi slices and a really nice capsicum pesto. My soy flat white was also pretty good and kept me warm in the back courtyard.
We visited Rouge District for a late breakfast. Walked through to the outdoor seating out the back. We ordered the French Toast which had baked Rubarb, passionfruit curd, white chocolate crumble, along with fresh berries and fruit. Gruyere and Leek Croquettes, were served with a really tasty capsicum pesto, and sweet potato crisps. Raspberry and White Chocolate Waffles….this was served with jam in a mini glass jug! Well presented with nice flavours and surprisingly, not a heavy dish. Coffees were good. All food presented well, and smelled great. Thank you Rogue District for having us.
Two words; excellent coffee. A wonderful little oasis in the middle of all the hustle and bustle near Sydney Road. Walk in and experience the cosiness of an open fire place between walls of bluestone brick; a very inviting setting and good first impression, indeed. The menu has a few vegan options; offering hummus and charred greens, turmeric spiced cauliflower and a few other delicious morsels in their cake cabinet. I ordered the chili scrambled eggs with sambal oelek and a long black. My friend ordered a soy latte and peanut butter brownie. Neither of us were disappointed. Definitely drop by for a quality coffee and a decent meal at a moderate price. Highly recommended.
Very chill and relaxed environment and staff were pleasant. The breakfast burger was a pretty standard breakfast burger. It was expected, nothing too spectacular - still tasted good. The Korean fried chicken burger had a good mixture of flavours. The chicken was a little tough and slightly flavourless on its own but still crispy and blended well with the rest of the veggies and sauces in the burger. The chips and aioli were pretty good. All in all decent brunch experience.
Cozy cafe, with lovely outdoor seating, great for dining alone or with a group. Service was very warm and friendly, and offered me her recommendations. Coffee tasted great please get crockery for larges , and the tim Tam hot cakes tasted better than they looked! They were more of a pancake, light and fluffy, great to share if you feel guilty eating all the calories on your own. Great experience, I'd like to come back and try another non dessert dish.
House turned cafe that has character. The service is great and the food is delicious. The brunch was quite filling and the tea was nice.
Nestled in a very unassuming old 19th century cottage, on a side street off Brunswick's incredibly busy Sydney Road, is one of Melbourne's newest brunch spots, Rogue District. We visited them for a late brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Coffee is good, roasted by Reverence. We tried the buttermilk pancakes and the bulgogi burger. While the presentation wasn't as good as others in Melbourne, the flavours were good. What I found most appealing about this place with the charm of the old school house it sits in. Worth a visit.
Used Zomato Gold on this place. The food was good and the coffee was good. Quiet little place in Brunswick. Nice back garden on a good day to brunch. Will come back again.
One of the cutest cafes in Brunswick, located on Albion street close to sydney road tram #19 and anstey train station.. it feels like you are entering someone's home and not a cafe...friendly staff, good service, yummy food...I love their tim tam hotcakes.. go and give it a try and I am sure you will love it.
