Rockhampton Airport is a really nicely done regional airport. Sure, it's not big, but it doesn't need to be. Check-in, security and boarding are easy and efficiently handled. There is a coffee shop and a bar with decent food and beverage options available. Nice outdoor seating areas as well and plenty of taxis on the stand to get you into town. Definitely a good place to fly in and out of.
Be careful with Bonza Airlines. They may close the check-in counter earlier than you think and anybody that gets there even just a few minutes after that has no chance to check in luggage and simply misses their flight and all money is lost. Best that you get there at least 2 hours early just in case.
Qantas Club Rockhampton was very disappointing. Horrible coffee and little more than a bare bones selection of dry crackers or tiny bags of mixed nuts. I miss the days when a visit to the Qantas club included barista-made coffee and a decent selection of freshly-prepared hot and cold foods. Some of the larger lounges even had top-shelf liquor. Now it's merely a fridge stocked with small cans of soft drink. *** Update from latest visit 15/02/2023: I decided to try the airport cafe for coffee and a treat before my flight, as the Rockhampton Qantas Club has so little to offer. There is only the one cafe, so choice is somewhat limited. The serving staff were friendly and expedient with the cappuccino I ordered. Unfortunately, the coffee tasted so horrible that I couldn't drink more than a few tentative sips. Yuk! For the price, I'd hoped for something better than coffee beans sourced from the cheapest distributor. Hot and cold burgers, sandwiches, etc were on display, but didn't look particularly healthy. Neither more nor less than the fare one would expect from an airport cafe. Overall presentation was clean.
Really nice airport - the cafe and bar called Two Brothers stays open quite late so people who are waiting for later flights have food options. The food is actually decent not mind blowing but decent with lots of options at a good price point. I was originally really worried there wouldn’t be anything open or food options would just be vending machines. Also, the security section was super quick - all the technology was new and didn’t require people to take their jackets etc off. Super efficient. 5/5 airport!

Worst most incompetent staff member! Our flight was cancelled from ROK to BNE and instead of just getting us on the next flight out of Rockhampton to get to our international flight she cancelled us off our ENTIRE long haul! Huuuuuge problems trying to get back on the same flights we booked. Lucky we have an 8 hour lay over in Brisbane because we will JUST make our flight if we are able to sort out this mess. Don’t put people of the front desk who don’t know what they’re doing! Also travelling with a 2 yr old and 1 yr old. Did not need this headache
Whilst the airport is clean and spacious it is very hard to hear announcements due to the echoing throughout the terminal and the low volume. Also there were no people on duty or an information desk to report lost luggage.
Waiting for the Captain's call - time to fly for the battle!
Had a connecting flight after our flight from Rocky both with Qantas. Lady at the check in didn’t book our luggage through both flights. Lucky we didn’t miss our second flight. Every time I travel Qantas I am disappointed.
