About

Modern Asian dining on the beach at Burleigh Heads.

Story

Rick Shores is the perfect place to experience a modern Asian dining experience right on the sand at Burleigh Heads.

With culinary influences drawn from Thailand, India, Vietnam and Japan matching the skill sets of Executive Chef Ben Bertei (Longtime Restaurant) and Head Chef Jake Pregnell (Ex-Golden Fields Melbourne), Rick Shores is able to develop unique and contemporary flavour combinations.

Open through lunch to dinner, small plates, large plates and the chefs selection is the focus with a precedence for fresh, light and locally sourced dishes.

Wasn’t sure what to expect for an asian fusion restaurant but was pleasantly surprised. The view is a given but thought that each dish was carefully crafted and had a multi-dimensional layer of taste to it. It truly belongs in a different tier and the one chef’s hat is well deserved. Our server, Adam was attentive, friendly and made everyone feel comfortable. A must visit if you are on the Gold Coast.
Rick Shores is an amazing restaurant that really has it all. The food is delicious, the staff are so friendly and the view is astonishing.nWe were fortunate enough to have a beach front view that felt like you were looking at a postcard!nnOur waitress Elizabeth was a breath of fresh air that added so much to our experience. She was very personable, had a great knowledgeable of the menu and made excellent recommendations about the food and activities in the area as well. You are lucky to have her.nnThe food was amazing and we loved the flavours and the creativity. The salmon spring rolls were an unexpected highlight, with the avocado cream pairing just delightful.nThe super light housemade roti is an absolute must to soak up the sauce from one of their delicious curries. We had the coconut prawn curry and it was divine.nThe signature Moreton Bay bug rolls are delicious as they look, and the Phoenix Wagyu in the truffle honey sauce is a must try.nnA beautiful location with amazing food and staff. Well done Rick Shores, thank you for a wonderful experience that we won't forget.
Rick Shores is an ABSOLUTE MUST-VISIT! nnSeriously, stop what you're doing and book a table here. I am still dreaming about this place!nnFirst off, the view is unreal, right on Burleigh Heads, you can't get a better spot to soak up the Gold Coast vibe.nnNow for the food. There are two things you must order: the Roti and Burrata and the Moreton Bay Bug Roll. That Roti and Burrata starter is ridiculously good, and the Bug Roll is famous for a reason, every single bite was an explosion of perfectly delicious, well-balanced flavours. Honestly, everything we tried was faultless!nnBut the absolute cherry on top was the incredible hospitality. We were looked after so well. A HUGE shout-out to Lachie, he was an amazing host! He was super friendly, made us feel so comfortable, and ensured we had the best possible experience. Give that guy a raise! nnGo for the food, go for the view, but stay for the whole fantastic experience. You won't regret it!
We dined at Rick Shores on New Year’s Eve for lunch with a large reservation. We opted for the $90 banquet along with the $100 drinks package per person. Overall, we had a good experience, though it wasn’t quite amazing.nnWe were seated in an excellent location—right on the water near the open windows—which really added to the atmosphere. Despite how busy the restaurant was, the staff did a great job ensuring drinks were consistently served, which we appreciated.nnThe only downside was the food. Portions were quite small and a little underwhelming overall. The standout dish was the Moreton Bay bug roll, however for $90 per person the banquet felt disappointing in value.nnI would be happy to return on a regular weekend and would likely opt to order à la carte rather than choosing the banquet again
Everything about this place is why it's so hard to get a booking. Amazing views, good food and friendly staff. We had the $90 set menu for lunch and enjoyed each dish although could have skipped the last main of beef curry as was a bit dry. Other than that the drinks and day was perfect.
