Rick Shores is the perfect place to experience a modern Asian dining experience right on the sand at Burleigh Heads.

With culinary influences drawn from Thailand, India, Vietnam and Japan matching the skill sets of Executive Chef Ben Bertei (Longtime Restaurant) and Head Chef Jake Pregnell (Ex-Golden Fields Melbourne), Rick Shores is able to develop unique and contemporary flavour combinations.

Open through lunch to dinner, small plates, large plates and the chefs selection is the focus with a precedence for fresh, light and locally sourced dishes.

First time at Rick Shores and first time in Gold Coast. Best experience; I made a booking for our anniversary, and the team gave us a table.nThe food was exceptional, full of flavours; we tried:n-Bug rolls classicn-King fish and pineapple sashimi must-haven- Roti with spicy burrata was okaynMainn- Bangalow Pork Rack with crispy Fried Potatoes, Anchovy Butter. AmazingnFor the dessert / Cardamom Semifreddo, Mango Sorbet, Hazelnut Crumb just delicious.nThe view is a movie, believe me; the vibe is incredible.nnAn Argentinian guy was our waiter, lot of recommendations, the best attitude, such a lovely human being.
We really enjoyed our visit. The view is definitely the standout feature and makes for a beautiful dining experience.nnThe tuna tataki was good, although the tuna was cut a little thicker than I prefer for a tataki, and it was a very generous portion—which is not usually something I’d complain about! The chicken karaage was absolutely amazing and easily our favourite dish of the night. The duck curry was delicious, especially paired with the rice, but unfortunately the roti was over-charred and wasn’t enjoyable.nnThe semifreddo wasn’t for me, and I found the portion quite small.nnOverall, the service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional throughout. I’d happily return and would recommend it to others, though it’s definitely on the pricier side.nnOne small touch that would have made the experience even more memorable would have been some form of birthday acknowledgment, such as a small dessert, palate cleanser, or celebratory shot. At this price point, those thoughtful gestures can really elevate the overall experience. Places seem to keep getting more expensive, but those little thoughts seem to dwindle.
An outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious every dish was packed with flavour and beautifully presented.nnA special mention to Marco, who provided exceptional service throughout the evening. His knowledge of the wine list was impressive, and his recommendations paired perfectly with our meal. Friendly, professional, and genuinely passionate about what he does, he really elevated the whole experience.nnFantastic food, fantastic service, and an amazing atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back! nnThanks again, Marco, for making our day so memorable.
The food is soooooo mid, we ordered a medium rare steak $145!! came out medium well nearly well done, chewy, dry, too salty. The wok fried veggies, uhhh how about wok burnt veggies, big nono. The bug roll is fine, just fine. Service excellent tho. If u came here for the vibe and view, sure, go for it, get a drink, maybe some snacks. If you’re hoping for a proper meal, you ain’t getting any, turn around.
It was our last night in Gold Coast and our first time visiting Rick Shores restaurant on 19 May 2026 and we celebrated our anniversary dinner date here. The location & food was lovely. Service was impeccable from the start to the end. The staff explained the servings on the menu in detailed which helped a lot. We would like to thank Eliza & her team for the memorable dinner experience!nLove the ambiance, the people and the vibe!!nnDefinitely will come back here if we visit beautiful Gold Coast again!!
