Barely a customer in store one other table when we arrived, yet focused on setting vacant tables than taking our order I went up to order after waiting 10 minutes. Ordered pancakes for all thought that would be quickest, took 40 minutes for 4 to come out, then another 15 for the last one they "forgot", which they didn't communicate, I had to ask once the rest of the family had finished theirs. Pancakes were small, thin and doughy - had better from a shaker bottle. A single small scoop of ice cream on the kids and not enough syrup! $17.80 for the regular pancakes rather than kids, and the berry compote was just as stingy - see photo of proof! Cutlery did not look very clean, with smudges clearly visible. Extremely disappointed every time we go there, then we finally go again and somehow it's worse. Other meals probably not so bad, but still not terribly good value. I can't see me giving them another chance, no idea how they're still in business.
Amazing food and excellent customer service. Highly recommend. We had so much fun today.
Had a Gluten Free pizza delivered 4.5kms away. Was stone cold, soggy, covered in cheese when I asked for no cheese and talk about over priced $36 for the apparent wood fired pizza? My 3 dogs wouldn't even eat it when I threw it out.
After we were seated with no menus we waited over 30 minutes for someone to at least ask for a drinks order I went to order at the bar, was told that someone would take our order at the table. The second we got menus we were asked to order immediately. Once we finally ordered it had been an hour only to be told 15 minutes later they didn't have it and to order something else.. only good things were the Barista - very quick with the drinks and the live music which was fantastic. Other than that if you're in a hurry I wouldn't recommend it.
Starters were good, the bruschetta garlic bread tasted fresh and crisp. Unfortunately the cheesy chips were soggy and cold in places, tasted like they were reheated in a microwave. The parmigiana which doesn't come with ham unless you pay extra was soggy and had nothing close to a crisp crumb expected. Steer clear of the braised beef cheek, flavourless meat in a swamp and barely mashed potato and sauce. Couldn't finish either main as just poorly presented and made. Raised with server issue with the mash as it appeared to have cauliflower mixed in but she said it was just mashed potato and garlic. Drinks- cocktail was alright, though not as described on the menu and came out warm with 4 ice cubes to chill it. Beer was the first I've ever had from tap that tasted flat and had no head whatsoever. Overall a very disappointing experience.
I don’t normally leave reviews but my experience here yesterday was laughably bad I ordered their only vegan option I managed to locate it on the menu after being told by a waitress that they didn’t even have vegan options??. My pizza was ~meant~ to have rocket, basil, broccolini, caramelised onion. We waited fifty minutes for our food despite there only being a few other tables, and the waitstaff did not communicate with us at all, one of us actually had to go up to the bar half an hour in to our wait to ask them for more drinks. The pizza that finally came out another five minutes after my friends’ meals came out was just sad Paper thin pizza crust, onion that was most definitely not caramelised, no basil or rocket, and instead of broccolini, just broccoli that wasn’t even fully cooked. The whole thing wouldn’t have been that bad if the staff had been nice but I don’t think we even got a smile the whole time we were there. Would not recommend, especially if you’re vegan‍
Groove Train has certainly gone downhill since the last time we had gone. Hardly anyone in there for dinner. My hubby and I had a voucher to use so we decided to go. My hubby pointed out to the waitress that his cutlery was dirty. No apology at all. The waitress was very abrupt and not very welcoming. Meals were expensive for what you got but thankfully they were nice. Upon us leaving they were not going to let us use our voucher despite it still being in date and from the correct store because they didn’t issue any for Christmas 2022. Upon me having to force the issue, we were asked could we please use it next time. I then replied we only came here tonight because of the voucher which was true. Eventually after a lot of back and forth between the girl and us and the girl and the kitchen we were finally able to use the voucher. If you have a voucher please make sure they honour it.
I am currently dining at The Groove Train and I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food. The carbonara is delicious, with perfectly cooked pasta and a rich, creamy sauce that is absolutely to die for. The parmigiana is also top-notch, with layers of flavorful eggplant and a crispy breadcrumb topping. The fries are crispy and well-seasoned, the perfect complement to the main dishes. But what really stands out for me are the eggplant fries. They are crispy on the outside, and soft and juicy on the inside, and have the perfect seasoning. I highly recommend The Groove Train for anyone looking for delicious fusion food. The service is also great, friendly and attentive. It's an overall great experience.
Sadly this once reliable business has gone down hill. Our lunch experience was extremely ordinary. The seafood basket that we have enjoyed many times was a great disappointment. Was $36 now $41 and greatly reduced in value. Fish half the size, half the amount of calamari, two lousy pretend scallops on a skewer. Padded out with a pile of ordinary chips and this took at least 45 minutes to get to the table. Quite poor, as it was a quiet day with only a few tables occupied. Pay more, get less, wait longer, we will never return here.
Told to take a seat, did so and then waited 20 minutes for anyone to attend our table it wasn't busy and we were in clear view of front staff. Another table was seated about 10 minutes after us and served first, when I brought this up with the waitress, instead of acknowledging the issue she told me there was no need to be rude, at that point I was not being rude but did want them to be aware I wasn't pleased it had happened. Food arrived and my son's Kids Calamari and chips came with the adults lemon pepper seasoning and tartare sauce rather than basic seasoning and tomato sauce which he wouldn't eat. Didn't send it back as we'd been waiting so long by then that he was bored and getting restless. We shared our food and when finished put napkins etc on our finished meals. Waited another 10/15 minutes or so while the waitress walked past us constantly clearing empty tables, our table was never cleared and my son was never offered the dessert that was meant to come with his meal. Gave up waiting, went to pay without making any further complaint and they refused to accept my valid gift card, staff told me it was not from their store as it wasn't in their system I have since obtained the payment receipt to prove it is, out of date, despite having an expiry date of December 2024 etc. Am currently waiting on the owner to call back to resolve the issue after I left my details and called back to follow up myself.
