I had a terrible experience here and if you are reading this 100% go to Tattys instead!!!! I got mucked around with the processing time, got told it’s was two weeks in store when I dropped it in. It then took 1 and a half months for them to process them. They also take more then any other resale shop around. When I collected my items they were very damaged and parts of them were lost such as the changeable straps of one of the heels. They have also lost one of my pairs of shoes and lazily looked for them with me, but they weren’t on the floor when looked there. They refused to even look for my item until after the expiry date. I will not be dropping off items here ever again and will not be shopping here either.
The process is very unclear and not customer friendly. I came to collect the unacceptable items they said I am late in one day and it’s been donated already. Second time drive the long way come to collect the unsold items, they told me couldn’t find them may be donated already. The website doesn’t shows anything. No emails and no text message to inform. Such a poor management systems and processes. Question why I am choose to collect the items when I am dropped off??? So ridiculers
Good clothing selection and great prices
Giving one star cause the clothes are amazing and the prices are good. The employees on the other hand were rude. We came in about 15 minutes before they closed and were told they were closing soon. Great and fine, but then they asked if we would try stuff on and buy it whilst in the changing room and when we said yes they just rolled their eyes. If the clothes we bought weren’t so cute we would have just left. Won’t be going back
Hugely disappointed. I had a whole lot of great items to bring in today. I googled you guys and it said you close at 5pm. I rushed over and come all the way, made it in plenty of time before closing. Arms full of clothes all ready and I was turned away.. told it was too hard, I couldn't even leave my items to get sorted out tomorrow. I was happy for whatever didn’t sell to be given to charity. Apparently you don’t accept clothes 30mins close to closing time? Would be good if this was clear on the website as it was a huge waste of my time today.
Not a second hand store for people on a budget final sale price is $4.50 but typically the cheapest items are ~$20 with many things $50+ but if you want to shop more sustainably this is a great place for higher quality goods than a typical op shop as they don't accept all clothes no glassons, cotton on, etc or worn/damaged items. Things are sorted by item type and color which is my preferred system.
Clothes were nice quality, good prices and great location in takapuna. The two girls staffed on the floor however were incredibly rude. It was baffling. If the owners knew the way they treated customers I doubt they would still have jobs. If your hours say you are open until 17:00 and you haven’t had customers all day then it’s understandable to close early. If you have multiple customers, and people trying on items for purchase, then I don’t understand the need to remind every customer every other minute that you are closing. We are clearly aware, you’ve only told us a dozen times rudely already. When I was halfway through trying on my items I was asked if I would be buying anything yes, through the curtains. Assuming they wanted to close the till early, I apologised and said I was buying a few things and needed one more minute. I looked at my phone and it was 16:54. I spent 60$, walked out before 17:00 and one of the staff girls slammed and locked the door behind me. Unbelievable service, this is my first review in years and I hope the owners speak with their staff about common courtesy.
Some staff can come across aloof and could be nicer. One girl there is always super friendly though. I think the layout could be better, in particular size order or color coded on the hangers.
I must echo what the other one-star reviews are saying. If you as a business say that you are closing at "5:30", then close at *5:30*. Not pushing the customers out at 5:05, not closing the doors at 5:20.....but 5:30. After calling to confirm this closing time, I made a special request to leave work at 4pm today in order to make it to Recycle Boutique in time to drop off clothing, but due to the hot mess on the bridge I wasn't able to step foot into the store until 5:02. By the time the associate greeted me, it was 5:07 and I was told that they don't accept new clothing a half hour before closing. I had literally just sat in standstill traffic for 45 minutes, then circled around Takapuna amongst all the construction mess for another 15 minutes, finally found a parking spot, paid for parking....only to be turned away. Wow. I guess it's just too much to ask for someone to do their job for the last 23 minutes of their shift, huh? The associate was kind about it, she was just following the rules - but those rules need to be changed. Clothes need to be accepted until the store CLOSES...how else are people with 9-5 jobs supposed to drop off clothing? It's ridiculous. I'll be going straight to Tatty's with my clothing...maybe they'll give me the time of day.
Staff completely ignored me when I went into the shop to donate. When one staffer turned to help me, she was interrupted by the person who seemed to be the boss... I will never donate here again. Do the right thing and just take your donations to the charity shops!
