Best chilli oil dumplings in town! Their salt and pepper tofu and the potato tower are also amazing. Lots of decent vegetarian options.
Heard these folks do the best dumplings, and its true! Portion sizes bigger than the prices, a little hole-in-the-wall place you'd easily walk right past. Definitely my kinda place. Chilli oil dumplings, prawn crackers and a steamed pork bun.
Food was nice, friendly staffs and portion was good too for town price. Needs to ventilate the place while cooking.
Ordered sweet and sour pork. Very very dry, got maybe 5-6 pieces for the whole dish. Weird colour too? Never seen sweet and sour pork that looks like this. Didn’t feel good going down.
From a few other Chinese stalls and restaurants in Wellington I tried, Ram's was probably the closest to the Chinese cuisine I am used to. Orange beef and Eggplants with potato were cooked nicely and arrived in 5-10 minutes. My only complaints are that boiled dumplings were a bit too salty and the rice didn't have too much flavour.

I have possibly tried all of the dumpling shops from Wellington to Hawkes bay. Nothing beats rams crazy dumplings!!!!. They are seriously the best dumplings I have ever had to this day and I recommend this place to everyone. Highly recommend the lamb and chive pan fried dumplings. If there was a dumpling competition in NZ, I'm sure they will win. I am in love with these so much I wish I could buy them in bulk frozen to cook at home, however, good excuse to come to this place every month!
Amazing food! Our table shared 8/9 dishes and all were superbly flavoursome and tasty! The FOH gentleman managed the front on his own and was most accommodating and went out of his way to ensure we had a great night! And did I mention the prices were extremely reasonable. Highly recommend!
The food was delicious and affordable, the byo pricing is fair and good for a group. The food came out separate but wasn't too long of a wait between. The waiters were not attentive but payment was efficient and the staff where polite. Perfect for a fun casual byo
We had a mixed experience here for dinner - my partner ordered black bean chicken which he really enjoyed, and we liked the veg spring rolls. Unfortunately the salt and chilli tofu was so watery and tasted of nothing aside from chilli. This was really disappointing as we love this dish normally and it was the reason we ate here. I had the vegetarian noodles too which were ok but not really to my tastes. On the whole we were a bit underwhelmed!
