Apparently, this is one of Wellington’s institutions when it comes to Asian food. Somehow I managed to miss it despite of decades of being out and about across the region. Today was the day to remedy the oversight. The place was busy, and the loyal clientele was going for their favourites. I, on the other hand, was having difficulty trying to find my way through the dozens of items on the menu containing unfamiliar dishes. The luck of the draw chicken dish was moist and flavoursome. The reputation of the place is deserved. Recommended.
I tried the pork chicken barbecue with rice was ok. My friend took the prawn and chicken they were delicious. The service was good as it is super rush there so don’t expect a warm welcome. Best is they don’t mess up your food they remember what you order. They can’t understand English so keep your dictionary inside your pocket. Ta!
Fast service Restaurant was busy. Noodle dish had a great wok flavour. Would have scored a 5 stars if the seafood stir fried noodles contained real seafood and bigger prawns. Fried squid was nice, tad overcooked which made it chewy.
If you want a no frills mean feed, this is where you need to come. You know the food is legit when the menu board is written in two languages. Everything is fresh, premises is tidy, dishes come out quickly. Don’t come here if you want to be pandered to, staff are here to work and churn out good food to feed the masses so don’t be offended if they seem dismissive, they just got better things to do lol we always come here whenever we come to Wellington. Do not confuse this with J&Ms, it doesn’t compare.
Great establishment, a Wellington icon in the heart of Courtenay Place. If you are looking for aesthetics or a nice ambience, you have come to the wrong restaurant. Extensive menu covering a wide range of options see pictured. You will take longer selecting your choice than you will waiting for the food. Accomodating with requests to modify dishes — I got the shredded pork with hokkien noodles — absolutely flavourful and a generous portion too. Good value for money. Thank you to the KC Team!
Went here after being away from Nz for 3 years and wow the prices have nearly doubled covid+inflation and charging $3 for a pathetic amount of the extra chilly when we ask for our food to be made extra spicywhich it wasn’t in the first place is a rip off. $5 for broccoli to be added to the noodles, unbelievable.
Great spot for a hot meal on a. Cold day. Authentic Chinese/Malaysian cooking. We had the dry wonton noodles, char keoy teow noodles were delish and curry laksa. Scrumptious
Huge menu, make you confused haha but when you finally find what you want it taste good. I v got Singapore Noodle with Pork and Prawn. Nice, cheap and big portion! And very busy!!!
A cheap and cheerful Chinese restaurant. The owners may not have spent much time on interior decor, but it is clean, and the menu is great! We had the chicken, ginger and spring onion stirfry with the salt and pepper King Prawns. The dishes came out quickly and were very tasty.
Finally had the pleasure to try KC cafe. Ordered the eggplant and fish clay pot rice and a pork wonton soup. Definitely recommend the clay pot dish, it was warm and umami deliciousness. Both seriously good and the portions are great for the price you pay. Well worth a visit!
