An RAC member ran a stop sign, t boned my car, then supplied false reports. RAC denied liability until they were informed it was caught on cctv. It took weeks to get assessed, and then grossly under market value, which I’ve disputed. I am not an RAC member, and own my car outright, yet somehow they want to charge me for disposing of my vehicle, which is in my possession, but I would have to do so through a private sale. I have refused to accept the bullying from claims specialist Lee Hutchins, like taking back a hire car the day I kicked up to try and make my life harder and force me into taking their settlement. Then the workshop holding my car threatened to “put it on the street” under guidance from RAC if I didn’t take their settlement settlement. I’ve now had to take this to ICWA for my injuries, AFCA for investigation, and also Consumer Affairs. They also harassed my elderly wife parents when they made a claim and made their lives hell. Their policies are full of fine print so check yours fully because the cover you think you have, you probably don’t. Terrible company with no ethics or morals. Choose one of the dozens of competitions. Roadside assistance is a joke too.

I called to get roadside assistance for my daughter’s car, which was stranded in the city with a tyre issue and unsafe to drive. Instead of providing clear options, I was simply told to “get a membership first,” with no explanation about temporary membership or paying by credit card for a one-off call-out.nnI was ready to pay immediately, but the process wasn’t explained properly at all. In a situation where safety should come first, the communication felt unhelpful and confusing.nnIn the end, I had to solve the problem myself.nnRAC has a strong reputation in WA, but the service today didn’t reflect that. Clear guidance and a bit more understanding would have made a big difference.

I thank RAC Roadside Assist for all the help today. My car battery died while I was out and I called RAC and the service was excellent. Jordan came within 45 minutes, fitted a new battery, tested all the electrics in the car and fixed everything. Jordan was incredibly friendly, polite and helpful. Many thanks to Jordan and to the lovely receptionist who took my call on the help line.

I had a breakdown more than 1,000 km from my home. My policy clearly states that if my vehicle cannot be repaired within 24 hours, RAC will cover accommodation for up to 5 days. When I contacted them, they simply claimed my breakdown wasn’t “serious enough.” This condition does not appear anywhere in the policy — the wording only specifies that the car must be out of use for more than 24 hours.nnAs a result, I’ve been stranded, forced to pay for 15 days in a hotel out of my own pocket, while RAC refuses to take any responsibility.

I wish I could half a star. A lot of missed communication from the roadside assistance guy to the call centre staff. I broke down at 8:38am and after making 4 calls to RAC throughout the day to ask when my tow truck was arriving, I didn't get a tow truck til 3:40pm. Towed to mechanics Brian from Rockingham Auto Care, Absolutely brilliant by the way, he looked at it and told me the left hand drive shaft had gone, expired and could've caused me to have an accident had I taken the advice of RAC roadside and drove home. I spend so much money for insurance on 2 cars I expect to be looked after and my situation dealt with in a more professional manner. Even the lady redirecting calls had a rude tone.
