Car broke down at city at 10pm. Called Rac and was given a 2 hours eta. It's 2.40am now, the truck is still on another job st Joondalup. "Valued Customer Service". Been waiting here on main road for 5 hours at 6 degree to have my car towed 8 kilometres!
Do NOT trust this mob. They "upgraded" my pensioner mother's roadside assistance without her consent, attempting to charge her nearly double what she usually pays. They increased MY home and contents insured amounts WITHOUT asking and tried to charge us hundreds more than we usually pay. CHECK your renewal amounts or you'll pay for it.
I have been a loyal member of RAC for over 12 years. I have not made claims for many years during that time. But recently I had a run of bad luck with a couple of claims made under my policy. RAC has as a result placed a $1,500 personal driver excess on top of my comprehensive car insurance claims, which is very unreasonable. Such a large amount of driver excess speaks of greed and avarice. I already pay a much higher premium to reduce my excess. What’s the point of paying RAC premiums when these are meant to cover any damage that the car has been been insured for?. I’ve gone for many years with no claims at all, and RAC has had the benefit of those keeping those premiums without having to bear the cost of any claims I have made. I recently experienced malicious damage and made an immediate police report and provided the police with photos of culprit. The woman who caused this damage had already punched and cut my lip outside the IGA in the vicinity with cctv footage available. I did not provoke her, she must have been on drugs or suffered a mental illness. She then kicked in and dented my car because I took photos of her. RAC said they were willing to pay for the damage only if this is proved in court. Otherwise I will have to pay a driver excess of the $1,500 in addition to the cost of the repairs which they say I will have to bear. Having been very ill myself for a long time, going through the stress of taking this woman to court is not do-able and will only make me sicker. I am shocked my the lack of compassion, unprincipled and very large driver excess of $1.500 and the need to prove my claim in court to cover the costs of the damage. There are far more compassionate and flexible insurers out there, RAC is no longer the trustworthy and principled organisation it used to be.
RAC sucks. Avoid their incompetence, only thing they can ensure is that you'll walk away feeling ripped off. Installed a battery which was defective and then wouldn't replace it because according to their tests it was functional. My mechanic had to show to the roadside assist guy it WAS defective for him to replace it. Then had to wait another 2 hours fpr a second roadside assist guy because the first one didnt bring the right battery. Additionally they wont let me insure my vehicle for what its real value is because they have a convoluded way of calculating market value they expect me to insure a 1.5k bike for 5k
Straight up bad customer service. I required Roadside Assistance as my car would not start. I called them and they asked if I was happy to be “Low priority” and wait for around 2 hour 30 minutes as I’m parked somewhere safe and not on the road. When I told them I’m not happy to wait that long, the RAC rep said “yep you are low priority. Would you still like to go ahead with it?” I’m like ??? The rep asked me if I’m happy to be Low priority and I said no, and he said ok you’re Low priority.. then what’s the point of asking when I don’t get to have a choice. Rubbish company that’s lucky to have well known name in the industry.
Terrible customer service when only trying to transfer car existing insurance to another car only to find out they cancelled existing policy now trying to set up a new policy Been on hold for 45 minutes what a joke
For all existing customers, take care of your money. Do not renew your policy, it is cheaper to get a new quote from RAC and of course even cheaper from other insurance provider. I have been with RAC for more than 7 years, and just renewal my policy every year. It is time to make a change now, as RAC keep 'steal' money from existing customers.
Daylight robbery. Hidden fees and charges, small print and loopholes? Sounds like the RAC to me. The worst customer experiences I've ever had with any business. Happy to take premiums but split hairs when it comes to actually assisting their customers. Was advised after an accident that the rental car, that I pay premiums for every month, needed to be picked up from Bunbury. 2 hours away from where I live. Was then advised that contrary to my policy information, the RAC would not cover transport costs to Bunbury, as it was over 100kms away. Was then given less than 18 hours notice on a Wednesday to have the car back by Thursday morning or risk being charged additional fees. Lost over to $500 in travel and lost work time. Repairs done to my car were of poor standard. 10 months later still dealing with issues. Can never get a straight answer out of anybody on the phone. They just sit there and read the same script over and over. I could go on... have had nothing but bad experiences in every dealing with RAC. Have paid premiums for years. Have my car and contents insurance with RAC. Will be cancelling both. Would not recommend RAC to anybody.
I would like to thank Caylee W. for her great customer service last week. She was an absolute delight and super helpful when I was trying to figure out insuring the second hand car I was in the middle of purchasing & where I was at with my roadside assistance. She was knowledgable and kind in answering my questions when I was trying to figure out what to do. Thank you Caylee you are an asset to RAC WA.
We have had RAC car insurance and pet insurance for a few years and have always found them to to be real people, i know that sounds strange but they really do give a dam. We have know changed our house and contents insurance over to them and wow they are so so good. Our house flooded and with in a hour a sparky was onsite to make safe and get us some power back and the 30 minutes after that the flooring people was here to suck up all the water. The building company called to book in a time to come once I advised that there was no urgent issues. This was super quick and when you are in this situation the whole world seems to be against you and we found the rac team to be so helpful and cooperative that the world was not so bad after all. I cannot thank them enough and if you are looking for any sort of insurance in WA RAC are the ONLY ones you should use.
