The view is amazing from the airport. It is newly renovated- the parent's room was new and clean. I have a toddler and she enjoyed playing with a bumblebee and ambulance ride near the boarding gate. There was also a TV to keep kids entertained. It is a very small airport and there are only two restaurants to choose from but we enjoyed the food in one of them.

I work as a local guide and this airport is generally well-organized. The take-off and landing are among some of the most beautiful in the world. 

However, the help desk inside the airport needs improving. 

I come to pick up tourists often and I always print out the welcome sign at the desk with a small fee. But today I came only to be told that they couldn’t help. When I tried the explain that I do this often, the lady at the desk said that they’d only do it under special circumstances, which basically means that they’d only do it when they feel like to.

Very small airport but super busy and crowded packed with people even in low season (maybe there's no low season in this place anymore). Regional lounge is upstairs very hidden and newly renovated. Taxi and shuttles right out at the door.

Excellent airport but the taxis are extortionate! $40 for a 5 minute ride to Queenstown! Can't wait for Uber to arrive!

Very cramped airport. Don't get here until 1 hour prior for bag checking or 30 mins prior if no bags. Area inside security (airside) is terribly cramped. Landside area is fairly cramped too. Very little seating. Only redeeming quality is that it's fairly clean.

This is an airport struggling with rapid grown without commensurate scaling of facilities. I would advise alternate airports considering extra ground travel time and petrol costs/reduced car hire fees associated with those airports.
