The largest cemetery in New Zealand is such a fantastic place. There are so many roads and alleys that you can walk and walk and still see something new everytime. The cenotaph is pretty impressive, the mausoleums are interesting to look at and it's just such a peaceful place.nI would highly advise checking this cemetery out especially with kids who can have fun exploring the many different roads.
While it may not be a traditional tourist destination, Waikumete Cemetery offers a unique and thought-provoking experience. If you're looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, consider a visit to this serene location.
It may the resting on lace for Soo many for so long.. but it's also such an amazing place to go for a walk.nTake in the history of the headstones, the way the place is laid out...nRemember those the faught for us all.nGreat to take your dog or family for a walk.nnDef recommend.
Waikumete Cemetery was established in 1886 and is the final resting place for over 70,000 people. The Chapel of Faith in the Oaks was built in 1886 as a mortuary chapel and was used until the larger chapel was built in 1952. It is available for hire for religious services.nnWaikumete is home to a number of prominent historical areas including the Erebus Memorial, Holocaust Memorial, NZ Influenza Epidemic memorial and the ANZAC Cenotaph.
Instead of worrying about being recorded they should behave in a way they can be proud of themselves. Like protecting the buried loved ones and their belongings.
