We really enjoyed our stay here. This hotel is an historic building and would’ve been beautiful to see back when it was built. If you’re looking for a fancy, bleach white hotel room this place is not for you. If you’re looking for an experience in a hotel with real history and wonderful staff then I can highly recommend. They have tried to keep it vintage and that definitely adds to the vibe. Would be a perfect location for a murder mystery party. Looking forward to staying again
Wasn't expecting much but we had a lovely wee stay at the Putaruru hotel, it's a lot nice than I remember it! Staff were friendly, welcoming and accommodating. For $84, id stay it was well worth the price. Room was clean and tidy, heater was on and room was warm before arrival. They let us check in late past 10pm and still helped us with all our luggage upstairs first time travelling with a baby so you can imagine how much we had lol. Bed was clean and warm and there was a spare blanket in the closet if needed. Had a nice hot chocolate in bed . Only thing was about the room I disliked was we couldn't close the bathroom window so was very cold going to the bathroom in the night.nnHotel was quiet and peaceful and staff were lovely. Can't wait to see it again once all the renovations are done.
Great place to stay.nUnder renovation.nFacilities superbnIt was the place to stay in the day.nApparently Her Majesty Elizabeth II stayed here.nSympathetic renovation underway.n10/10 for clean and usable Facilities.nQuiet and Comfortable.nHighly Recommended.
Amazing example of an original ‘50’s Hotel with all its charm and character. You can imagine the glory of the hotel in its heyday and all that magic is still there. Really friendly staff help make this a unique experience. Themed events would be fantastic here!
I loved the experience. My daughter and I stayed 1 night to break up a long journey. We arrived around 8pm, the duty manager let us in and gave us the key. Up the grand staircase to our room. The heater was on - such a nice welcome - and towels, mini soap and shampoo plus tea and coffee in the room. Shower was so cool with art deco tiles and water was nice and warm.nComfortable bed, nice warm, sherpa blanket and TV worked well, plus wifi.n$85 for 2 people for a night was really good. Left in the morning, friendly staff.nGreat dinner at the little Turkish Kebab place over the road and Cow Cafe breakfast down the road was YUM! Never stayed in Putaruru before, it was just right for what we needed. Thank you!nThank you!
