There are too few Aboriginal owned and operated cafes or restaurants anywhere. The Purple Goanna makes up for this in a small, comfortable space in Redfern. The food is tasty, well presented and in many cases, quite original. Kangaroo, Emu and Crocodile are all on the menu, along with sweet treats using Australian native ingredients. Prices are good and it makes for a cheap, excellent breakfast, lunch or just a coffee and snack. Staff and many of the customers are Aboriginal and it makes for a complete experience of modern Aboriginal Australia. A friendly, relaxed, easy-going atmosphere with good food at reasonable prices.
I love the Purple Goanna, the food is very good, especially the Roo Burgers and the Croc burgers yum The staff and owner are always friendly and the costs are very reasonable. I always have a coffee every day. Thanks Guys you make my life great
We went there yesterday and Purple Goana is unfortunately closed since a couple of years. Zamknięte!
