Visited this gym yesterday and it is an excellent facility. Fun setting, good training area, and most importantly, it has great crowd! Also the coffees here are excellent too!nnTraining area has beastmakers, various edges, kilter board, moonboard, splatter board and campus rungs. Amazing!nnChanging room and toilet facilities could do with an upgrade and they should get lockers or lockable cages too.
great little gaff for a climb. staff are friendly, there’s always a new wall every week, and everyone is helpful and approachable. the climbs are inventive and good for all levels. beers go down well after too.
Visiting from a country town and wanted something different for our teenagers to experience. Great equipment and very friendly fellow climbers willing to help out first timers. Unfortunately, very little guidance or instruction in how to use the course from staff, they seemed in a hurry to get back to the front desk so they could continue chatting. We felt like our questions and inexperience were a bother to the guy who served us. Be aware they do not accept cash either, only card, which seems a little exclusive. Perhaps we didn’t fit their preferred demographic, but for a club that has posters everywhere declaring how inclusive they are, we felt rather excluded.
I've been a climber of the gym since it first opened. The staff are friendly, there's always a good variety of holds and the atmosphere is generally chill and welcoming.nnOne thing that needs to be improved is the internal airflow/ventilation. I know its still winter and a bit colder, but often times I'm noticing there's a haze of chalk dust suspended in the air - which like any particulate, can't be good to breathe long-term. Just a suggestion, a bit of fresh air and ventilation can't hurt
Visited Portside Boulders for the first time recently under a friends free visitor pass. Was a great experience being introduced to bouldering here, had a quick induction with the staff, hired some shoes and got going after a simple and easy registration. Easy for beginners, with wall markings colour coordinated. Love that it’s dog friendly too with beds, bowls and places to tie the leash
