We went with some friends on Tuesday for the steak night, and even though we have heard very good things about this place it was just alright.. we order 4 steaks and the consistency just wasn’t there. One of the steaks was really overcooked which they recooked upon request. The ambience is good and the service was very good as well, but the food could have been definitely better.
We had a family dinner celebrating my brothers birthday, and it was a really disappointing experience unfortunately. We waited an hour for our food to arrive, including what should have been very quick starters. Those who ordered the classic pub meals were satisfied, but I had the Portuguese fish stew which was small, very plain and very overpriced. Do not recommend. They did take an entree off the bill but it didn’t make up for a bad experience. We won’t be back.
Food was good but needs more seasoning.Service was alright. It was just so incredibly noisy. With the flooring, the noise just travels through that place. Want a dinner for 2 without wanting to struggle to hear one another? Perhaps find an alternative
We were looking for a casual venue which offered a variety of meals other than just your standard pub bistro meals for our son’s 21st lunch time gathering. We started with several entree’s which were shared and ordered foccacias as well for starters. We then ordered our mains which were plentiful. My beef cheeks meal was super delicious. All meals came out promptly as well - considering they had other functions on. All staff were super friendly and attentive to our groups orders and requests. What swayed me to book there was that they were very obliging when I first enquired about guests with allergies. This was our first visit at The Plough and are glad to say we have now found our go to venue when next dining out. I have worked in hospitality and I am quite particular of service and presentation. The Plough certainly made my son’s 21st gathering a delightful experience. Dietary restrictions: One guest required Gluten Free meals and was able to discuss with the staff other options also as she has an intolerance to fructose. This guest had a good variety to choose from.
Call themselves a Gastro Pub and the food definitely stacked up. The Flank steak was excellent. Others had the Ox Cheek, Fish Special and a pizza, all gave good reviews.
Are there new owners or something?! I used to rate the food very highly but the rump steak was bad. Chewy, had to eat around the fat/gristle, and not cheap. Wouldn’t jump to a bad review except our neighbour had the same report from last week.
The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable, the staff were amazing especially Lynette & Paisley, who went above and beyond to make our stay fabulous. Location was close to train and bus, short trip to major shopping centre. Would highly recommend as all staff were very friendly.
Got the mexican pizza today and it was ordinary. I compare it was a frozen pizza. Would have been better at dominoes. The pizza lacked taste, looked plain and the centre of the pizza was soggy in the middle by the time i finished. Disappointed for a $24 pizza. Service was great and the place looked smick. Just need good food.
I don't like posting negative reviews but I am disappointed by what has happened to our beloved local. Regular patrons for 7 years. But now under new management and chef it feels like there are budget cuts which are affecting the quality of the food. $42 porterhouse with frozen store bought chips previously hand cut and what seems to be bulk buy mustard previously better quality. Not to mention the one thing that made the Plough famous - the Ale pudding - has unbelievably been taken off the menu! What!? For the price, it's no longer worth it. Who pays $42 for an over cooked steak and undercooked chips with Mcdonalds American mustard? The staff are still great but the chef and management need to take a hard look at what they're doing.
Enjoyed a fantastic Mexican night. The fish and tofu tacos were so yummy, as were the nachos. I also had the Mexican beer which was great.
