Great Cafe in Elwood with 2 hour parking in ‘side street’. So many healthy options to choose from. I had the Zucchini fritters with an extra Poached egg. The only critique re the food, I personally think the Zucchini fritters could have been lighter in colour & not so ‘charred on the outside’ & perhaps corn in them? no corn in mine.nI expected the ‘Sticky Chai’ to be ‘way more flavoursome- maybe the ‘brand’ used is ‘slightly tasteless’ compared to ‘Prana Chai brand’ or maybe the 'Calmer Chai' brand just needs a 'Little more time re Seeping'. Lovely atmosphere & will definitely go back- Just ‘watch the 10% extra Surcharge for a ‘Normal Saturday’ - not even a Public holiday, so the Q: is…..’What would the Surcharge be on a Public holiday?’nTotal cost- $42.24 for the Zucchini fritters & Chai drink.nStaff are lovely; Great quality food; Outside seating for people with dogs; I think it’s ’a bit rich, charging customers 10% extra surcharge for a ‘normal Saturday’ when most other Cafes don’t charge this fee. Would not bother coming on a Public Holiday!
Fantastic place to get breakfast. We stopped here on our way down to the coast on recommendation of a local and it certainly lived up to the promise.nnQuick, efficient, and friendly service, decent WiFi, and the food was delicious. I had the smoked ocean trout and poached eggs. Yummy!
The food is incredible however today we had a waiter very politely push us to leave as we were no longer ordering food. I was sitting at the table with a baby asleep on my chest, a half drunk tea and trying to order takeaway under the circumstances. He apologised on behalf but of all the tables to move on, it was very inconsiderate.
I recently visited *Plain Sailing*, and unfortunately, it was a dreadful experience. While the staff were genuinely nice, it was clear they were completely overwhelmed due to being severely understaffed. You could see they were doing their best, but the long waits—almost an hour for both drinks and food—were inexcusable.nnOur table was dirty when we sat down, and we weren’t even given cutlery. After asking twice, we finally got what we needed. When the food arrived, it was a huge letdown. What used to be a solid place to eat is now overpriced, underwhelming, and just not worth the money.nnThe manager didn’t help the situation either. She kept giving us strange, uncomfortable glances, which added an awkward and unsettling vibe to the meal.nnI felt bad for the staff, who seemed overworked and under-supported, but honestly, this place just isn’t what it used to be. I won’t be returning, and I can’t recommend it anymore.
Went here with some mates for lunch and it looked busy. Took some time for someone to seat us but got a great spot outside.nnWe were seated and handed menus but after this it took a while some anyone to come and take our order. The staff looked aimlessly around snd it felt like none of them wanted to be there. Took awhile for our order to be taken but finally the manager took our order. Food was really good but it did take awhile, in saying this it was busy so understandable.nnOn observation the manager had more interest in a dog then seating people, making sure customer were happy and had received what they ordered and the worst was that she was hugging, kissing and feeding the dog from her hands and would then go and serve a table , picking up clean glasses for water and taking them to tables, grabbing plates and serving food. Not once did I see her wash her hand after playing with the dog and they did this more than once.nnI work in hospitality and understand the importance of hygiene when working with food and drinks. This was so wrong and really put me off finishing my food. After seeing this I wouldn’t go back here.
